A 79-year-old former middle school teacher in Michigan is accused of sending pornographic texts and Snapchats to a minor, a crime that carries a four-year prison sentence.

In September 2023 Sue Ann Asch, 79, retired from her position as a paraprofessional education assistant at Kalkaska Public Schools, and is now said to have sent the communications to a youngster she knew. Asch turned herself in, according to Michigan State Police, after a felony warrant for her arrest was approved on January 8. Then, several electronic devices were taken from her West Street house by investigators.

The electronics were sent to the computer crimes unit of the state police, and a report was filed for examination at the Kalkaska County Prosecutor's Office. After speaking with the child in September at the Traverse City Children's Advocacy Center, police launched an investigation.

According to upnorthlive.com, Rick Heitmeyer, the superintendent of Kalkaska Public Schools, Asch began working for the district in 2012. According to him, she was working as a paraprofessional at Kalkaska Middle School when she retired in September. Asch was charged with one count of accosting children for immoral reasons on Monday at a district court. She is still being held at the Kalkaska County Jail with a $5,000 bond, and her next court date is February 12.
