Brits have been urged to check their Lotto tickets after another balance busting National Lottery draw.

The Lotto draw held an eye-watering £5.4million double rollover jackpot for one lucky player who picks their numbers correctly. But Lottery organisers Camelot confirmed there were no winners for Wednesday's jackpot, and the sum will roll over.

There are, however, 76 winners matching 5 of 6 winners able to claim £1,750 each. There were no winners for tonight's main Thunderball prize, either.

Lotto draws take place every Wednesday and Saturday. The EuroMillions also takes place every Tuesday and Friday, and you can also play the Set For Life which gives players a chance to get their hands on £10,000 every month for 30 years.

Neighbours scoop seven figures on Postcode Lottery

Two neighbours scooped £1million playing the People’s Postcode Lottery last week - and their local charity has won £50,000 as a result.

The two residents of Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, won the weekly Millionaire Street prize, which is worth £250,000. One lucky local raked in £750,000 after playing with three tickets and the other walked away with a £250,000 from a single ticket. The neighbours' win also means that nearby charities will also benefit with £50,000 handed out to a local charity. Read more here.

My numbers came up - what do I do now?

If you're luck is in, then you simply ring the number on the back of your ticket to make your claim.

That call will get through to a call centre where staff are dedicated to dealing with Lottery related matters. It's not just winners - the staff there also take calls from newsagents who want to order more scratch cards or whose Lottery ticket dispenser isn't working, that kind of thing.

So, it's a bit of a lottery for them too regarding who'll be on the other end of the line.

UK's most lottery-obsessed cities revealed

The UK's most lottery-obsessed cities have been revealed in a new study - and the results are somewhat surprising.

A new study, conducted by bingo industry experts at BestNewBingoSites, analysed Google search data to establish which UK cities are the most hopeful for winning the lottery. The research looked at Google searches from each city, using a list of 114 popular search terms people tend to use when wanting to win the lottery.

Popular search terms ranging from "how to win the lottery" to "six lucky numbers to win the lottery" were used as part of the study - and Sunderland came out on top.

  1. ‌Sunderland - 44,871.35 (average search volume per 100k)
  2. Kingston upon Hull - 41,082.85 (average search volume per 100k)

Brits whose lives were ruined by winning the lottery

While many of us dream about winning big on the lottery, for some it has been more of a curse than a blessing.

The tragedy follows a clear pattern - the joy of winning is replaced by despair, as they either blow through a fortune, or their personal lives become unbelievably stressful. Adrian and Gillian Bayford won a incredible £148million on the lottery in 2012, but split less than 18 months later, partly attributing the stress of their win on the end of the relationship.

EuroMillions 'still looking for last night's winner'

If you played in last night's EuroMillions and haven't checked your numbers, you'd better look sharpish.

Lottery organisers are still looking for last night's winner for the - wait for it - £123million jackpot. It goes without saying it's a truly life-changing sum of money.

Read more here.

The last Lotto numbers and jackpot

The Lotto was last played on Saturday when there was a whopping £11.8million.

If you still haven't checked your numbers since then, they were: 5, 8, 20, 23, 30 and 50. The bonus ball was: 25

What is the Lotto?

The Lotto is one of several games run by the National Lottery where players can enter and pick a selection of numbers. If the numbers match those drawn at random, the winner can claim a jackpot.

You don't have to match all six numbers, however. Even players with just two or three matching numbers can claim a sum. It costs £2 per play and you have to pick six numbers between 1 and 59.

When do winners get their money?

The winnings are transferred electronically within 48 hours but officials recommend it doesn't go into a normal high street savings account.

Instead they suggest winners open a a private account (most of the big banks have teams which deal only with Lottery winners and the very wealthy) which is shielded from the knowledge of ordinary branch staff.

That way no one can leak news of a person's win.

When is the Lotto draw?

Wednesday's Lotto numbers will be drawn at 8pm, and we'll announce the numbers as the come through.

The Thunderball will then be announced shortly after at 8.15pm.
