You Me At Six have announced their split after two decades.

The group who first joined forces in 2004 have gone on to achieve success that only some artists can imagine. Over the course of their career, the band consisting of Josh Franceschi (lead singer), Matt Barnes (bass guitar and backing vocals), Max Helyer )guitar and backing vocals), Chris Miller (lead guitar) and Dan Flint (drums) have achieved commercial success across the globe.

Of their eight studio albums, seven have achieved the top ten with Cavalier Youth (2014) and Suckapunch (2021) reaching the top of the Official UK Charts. Sharing a video to their official YouTube channel titled 'You Me At Six – Time (2005 - 2025),' Josh can be heard saying: "Time, something we never have quite enough of but always need more of," before a video montage shows their career over the years.

Appearing in a graveyard, the Weybridge, Surrey-born musician goes on to add: "Sometimes it goes by slowly, sometimes it goes by fast. Some things are over quickly, but some were built to last. 20 years in the making, beyond our wildest dreams – trips around the sun we've lost count, one more for memories.

"People love stories with endings, page after page, year after year, we'll give you a final chapter because we've climbed our Everest and faced our fears. It's time for the finish line, it's time for goodbye, for the last time, one more time, it's time," before the screen shows the band posing together.

Discussing their split, Josh said: "When we started YMAS (You Me At Six) we were kids. We only ever wanted longevity, to travel and to experience life as a group of friends. We feel like on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to call time. We're in a fortunate position where our fans still want to see us live and come celebrate the life of this band. So that is what we will do for 2024 and 2025. We can't wait to see our fans on the road."

The group will continue to tour the globe until 2025 when they perform for the final time. The band have also topped over one billion streams across the globe. But before their global farewell tour in 2025, they will be performing a handful of shows in the UK in February, kicking off in Wolverhampton on February 9, before their final ever festival slot at Slam Dunk North on May 26.

Since the news broke, fans have taken to social media to share their heartbreak. Singer-songwriter Josh Roe-Parkin said: "Well this just ruined my day. The reason I joined a band, the reason I do what I do. From 2005-2025, thanks for everything." One devastated fan wrote: "April Fool's is still far away y'know. Thank you for all the memories, my teenage years were just that bit easier thanks to you guys." A second penned: "This is actually breaking my heart. You canceled your American tour this past year and now you’re closing the band. You have been my favourite band since 2008! I don't know how to deal with this news."

Meanwhile, another fan commented: "This is the worst news ever. But thank you for making music that’s healed me in so many situations. For giving the most incredible memories at your shows. I appreciate you."
