Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly ‘in a downward spiral’ over their multi-million dollar Netflix deal.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a series of deals with huge names when they relocated to America in January 2020, as their Archewell Productions firm joined forces with Spotify and Netflix. However, their deal with Spotify dramatically collapsed last year, and there are reports their £80 million contract with Netflix won’t be renewed in 2025 the couple haven’t produced enough content for the streaming giant.

They were dealt another blow earlier this week, as it was announced Archewell Productions manager Bennett Levine, who worked on the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan, was quitting after less than two years in the role. “I'm happy to share that I'm starting a new position at Cinetic Media,” he wrote in a brief statement on social media.

Now, a royal commentator has claimed the couple are in a “downward spiral” over the future of their Hollywood careers, and noted that Harry and Meghan have only released two projects on the streaming giant. “It was supposed to last until 2025 now there’s a lot of rumours at the moment that it’s not going to be renewed and I think the reason for that is the lack of production and there hasn’t been enough going on,” Robert Jobson told TalkTV.

Reports have suggested the former working royals are now scrambling to produce content for Netlifx in order to keep their deal with the streaming giant, but fans are disappointed the Sussexes haven’t released as many projects as first promised. Their six-part docuseries Harry and Meghan was released in December 2022, and the Duke of Sussex’s Heart of Invictus documentary hit the streaming service last year. Since then, there’s been no news of any forthcoming projects from the couple.

Harry and Meghan sparked rumours they were preparing to have their Netflix deal scrapped next year when they attended a movie premiere in Jamaica earlier this month. It was reported the Sussexes had been invited to the glamorous premiere of Bob Marley: One Love in Kingston by Brian Robbins, the boss of Paramount Pictures. The couple are close friends with the studio executive, and even live in the same neighbourhood in Montecito, California.

There have been reports Meghan is to be offered a role on a Suits spin-off, but rather than be in front of the camera, she would be in the director’s chair instead. Suits: Los Angeles is in the early stages of development at NBC Universal, and the creator of Suits, Aaron Korsch, is onboard for the new show. Sources have claimed executives are “prepared to pay what it takes” to get Meghan back for the spin-off, even if it’s just for one episode or a guest appearance.
