Inside Marcus Rashford's inner circle trying to keep him out of trouble
Marcus Rashford's inner circle have been trying to keep him out of trouble following his escapades in Belfast last week.
The Manchester United striker was reported to have gone on a 12-hour "tequila-fuelled bender" in the Northern Irish capital last week before reporting ill to football chiefs and missing his team's FA Cup win over Newport. After the game, United boss Erik ten Hag said he would "deal" with Rashford, and on Monday evening the Red Devils released a statement saying they considered the matter to be closed.
Despite Rashford's recent behaviour, the football superstar does have a close group of friends and family that he trusts to keep him out of trouble when he's away from Man United. The striker is known to keep his inner circle very small, and they're all people who want the best for him.
Dwaine Maynard
Dwaine Maynard is Rashford's older brother and is said to be one of the most influential figures in the striker's life. Maynard runs DN May Sports Management which oversees upcoming young athletes in various sports, and he played a critical role in helping Rashford come to an agreement on his £315,000-a-week deal with Manchester United last summer.

Rashford is listed as a client on the DN May Sports Management website, and Maynard directly manages him as his agent.

In 2021, Maynard opened up about how kind his younger sibling is during an interview with WSJ Magazine. The magazine's report stated that Rashford used to regularly roll down his car window to hand cash to kids and homeless people in Manchester before Maynard told him there were more constructive ways to help. He said: ''It's actually not very safe for you to stop your car and do that."
Dane Rashford
Rashford's other older brother, Dane is a co-founder of DN May Sports Management and also acts as an agent for the footballer. Dane was essential in helping Rashford secure his previous £250,000-a-week contract in 2019 before his recent signing. Alongside his two brothers, the striker also has three sisters - Tamara, Chantelle and Claire - but it is his brothers who have helped navigate his contracts.
Dane was arrested in Florida last year after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend. He pleaded not guilty to charges of misdemeanour battery, and the charges were later dismissed after the incident was described as a "misunderstanding".
Marcus' older brother was also previously caught up in a terrifying robbery alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold's brother Tyler in January 2019, during which they were hit with a bat and had a gun pointed at them. Masked robbers made off with a £70,000 Range Rover and jewellery including a £20,000 Rolex. In January 2023, Tariq Dervan, Romario Harmer, and Talleko Lemonious were all found guilty of the robbery.
Jamie Hendley
Jamie Hendley has been a close friend of Rashford's since they met at breakfast club during their time at Button Lane Primary School. As a close confidant of Rashford's, Jamie has been by his side throughout his journey to football stardom, and has been spotted with the striker in Miami and Mykonos, as well as partying with him in Ibiza.
He has also become close friends with Jesse Lingard through Rashford, as well as Rashford's brothers. He recently set up a property management company called Purposed Properties Ltd., which is believed to be launching in the near future.
Tyrell Malacia

The pair are said to 'give each other energy'With Jesse Lingard leaving United, Tyrell Malacia has emerged as Rashford's closest friend at the club. The Dutch full-back has holidayed with the striker in the past and has been pictured attending his birthday parties. The pair hit it off after Malacia's first season at Old Trafford, and are said to "give each other energy".
Malacia once told MUTV: "We give each other energy, we speak a lot with each other and, in the dressing room, we sit next to each other. We have a good connection, that’s important and you can see it on the pitch."
Ashley Leather
Another of Rashford's lifelong friends whom he met at school, Ashley Leather is a mainstay in the footballer's inner circle. In fact, Rashford previously shed light on how important both Ashley and Jamie are to him during an interview with Men's Health in 2021, when he said they were a vital part in keeping him out of trouble in his teens.
He said: "When I talk about sacrifice, it's also about making decisions. That's why I'm so close to Jamie and Ashley, because if they knew someone was going off in a direction that could put us in a sticky situation, they would have me home straight away. Just like that. We would get on our bikes and I would be home. They have been like that from the beginning for me."

Rashford also said in the same interview that he views his friends more as his third and fourth "brothers", and said Jamie and Ashley are the only people in his circle who aren't family or people he works with. He added: "It has always been small and always will be, because I feel like I work best in that environment. I trust them."
Ro-Shaun Williams
Rashford met Ro-Shaun Williams while playing football as a child at Manchester grassroots club Fletcher Moss Rangers, and the pair went through Manchester United's academy together. In fact, the pair are so close that it was Williams' signing to Larne FC that prompted Rashford to travel to Northern Ireland last week.
When asked about his relationship with Rashford, Williams told the Yorkshire Post: "I've known him since I was a kid, I played local football with him before we were at United so I see him as like family, it's the same as my mum, dad or brother coming to watch me. Marcus watching me is the same as if one of my mates who works at Amazon comes to a game, I'd still want to play well because someone's taken time out of their day to watch me."
Jamal Branker
Originally a close friend of Jesse Lingard, Jamal Branker has grown close to Rashford over the years and is also friendly with Jamie Hendley. Jamal is a non-league footballer and was last pictured with Lingard last month, although he became the centre of attention in 2019 when he featured in a video that both Lingard and Rashford were also in.
Lingard was showing off his hotel suite in Miami, but the video took a turn when Jamal was seen simulating sex with a pillow, which led to criticism. Rashford later called the video a "mistake" but did not go into further detail.
Caroline McAteer
PR guru Caroline McAteer is the most recent person to be invited into Rashford's inner circle, having been added in December when she was hired onto his team. Caroline also looks after Jadon Sancho, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane, and is highly respected in her field after having worked with David and Victoria Beckham in the late 90s.
She will be a huge asset to Rashford and is also adept at crisis communication, which he may continue to need in the wake of his boozy trip to Northern Ireland.
