Nottingham Forest will play host to Arsenal on Tuesday night as part of a full midweek Premier League round of games.

It was at the City Ground last term that Forest saw off the Gunners late in the season, which effectively ended the north Londoners hopes of the title. This time Mikel Arteta will be hoping his side can build on their recent momentum having stuck five past Crystal Palace in their last game.

Both sides need the points for their respective ambitions. Arsenal, after a poor December, need to remain in touch with Liverpool and Manchester City if they are to end their title drought. Forest meanwhile remain in the relegation scrap and face the threat of a points deduction.

Arsenal have had to shut down rumours of their manager leaving in the lead up to their game in Nottingham. Speculation in Spain suggested Arteta was considering a move away in the summer, which he and the club have firmly dismissed.

When is Nottingham Forest v Arsenal?

What have the coaches said

Arteta has said on rumours linking with him the exit door: "I could not believe it. I don’t know where it’s coming from, it’s got no sources, it’s got nothing and I think we have to be very cautious when we talk about personal things, to put it in the way that it was put yesterday."

Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who is still relatively new in the role, said on the challenge presented by Arsenal: “It will be a difficult game. Arsenal are one of the best teams around. We know the quality of their players and their manager. We know it is always important to get the energy from our fans at the ground and go for the game. The memories are good but it is totally different. It is a new game and new situations.

“We have to play good. There are things we need to improve on, in terms of our performance as a team. But for us, it is not who we have in front of us, it is about what we want to do in a game. And what we want to do tomorrow is compete well, and to compete well against a top team we have to defend well and we have to attack.”
