This Morning's Dermot O'Leary was bursting with pride after he witnessed co-star Alison Hammond shine on stage and shared some moving words about his co-star.

The 48-year-old daytime presenter and mum-of-one braved the audience in a new panto at the Hippodrome theatre, where she played the Spirit of the Beans in Jack and the Beanstalk and wowed friends and family with her magical performance. Alison has been supported by her ITV colleagues backstage including Dermot and co-star Josie Gibson, who sat in the crowd with five-year-old son Reggie.

Sharing a moving tribute to his co-star on her last day on set, he wrote: "All hail the queen. Her last panto today, at her beloved Birmingham Hippodrome. Saw her yesterday, with her wonderful cast, and couldn’t be more proud. Well done Bab, incredible shift. X @deekoppangoleary."

Fans immediately reacted to the picture, with some fans praising Dermot and Alison on their genuine and heart-warming friendship. One person said: "Love these two on a Friday, great chemistry." A second person added: "The friendship we never knew we needed. Definitely a new duo." A third person penned: "Beautiful friendship. Love you guys."

Alison previously said that landing her first-ever panto role was a "dream come true" and added that it's "no secret" how much she loves both theatre and Birmingham. She confessed that she was looking forward to playing her role alongside the likes of Matt Slack, Doreen Tipton, and Andrew Ryan.

However, Hammond revealed that she'd been in a fair share of pantos in the past. She said: "It's not my debut, see that's where it's gone wrong! Don't ever listen to the press, you know what they're like! But basically, I've done nine pantos, in my time, and then I took a break of about six, seven years," she said, adding: "And I said to myself, the only time I'm ever gonna go back to panto, is if the [Birmingham] Hippodrome asked me to come! I'm so happy. It's such a big year, Jack and the Beanstalk. I'm the Spirit of the Bean."

Just days ago, Dermot and his wife Dee Koppang were spotted stepping out in public together. The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, attended the All Of Us Strangers screening earlier this week, rubbing shoulders with huge stars including Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott.

The couple met when they both worked for the same television production company, before embarking on a nine-year relationship. Dermot popped the question to Dee during a trip to New York in 2011, and they decided to keep their news on the down low. They eventually tied the knot a year later at St Mary's Church in Chiddingstone in September 2012.
