Despite the odds stacked against him, Andrew Jenkins has defied doctors' expectations and has been able to have a second shot at life.

The Traitors star has made it to tonight's grand final of the hit BBC show, despite admitting to 'struggling' with his Traitor position. Alongside fellow Traitor Harry Clark, the pair have made it to the last showdown in a bid to win the prize pot after third Traitor Ross was banished on Wednesday.

Andrew, 45, was left in an awkward position as Ross branded him a 'liar' just moments before he exited the Round Table. But the Welsh insurance broker has hopefully won over his teammates after opening up further on how he would spend the winning cash.

He signed up for the reality game because he knows just how short life can be, and is always looking to step out of his comfort zone and take risks after his life almost ended too soon in his early twenties. He was involved in a horror car crash 23 years ago and was pronounced dead at the side of the road.

"I was pronounced dead on the side of the road and I was in a coma for nearly five weeks. My parents were told I'd never walk ever again, I had brain damage and that there's a chance of me not waking up from my coma," the 45-year-old insurance broker said.

"My parents were told that if I did wake up, I'd never walk, talk or use my arms again and I may not recognise them. They were told to prepare for the worst. There's lots of things that happened to me, and the doctors call me a miracle patient."

He managed to make a full recovery and last year, Andrew, who describes the gym as his 'safe haven', met the man who saved his life in an emotional reunion. "I met him and I shook his hand and said thank you for saving my life," he reflected. "There are not many people out there who get a chance to see somebody who saved their life and say thank you."

After being inspired by his near-death experience and having gone through a journey of 'personal growth, in the last couple of years, he has felt compelled to take more risks, adding: "I've been a Steady Eddy all my life I suppose, never taking any risks or challenges. You only have one life, and I know that more than anyone.

"Your life is short, and it can get taken away at any moment. I live my life as best I can and take as many opportunities as possible that come my way." By being on the show, Andrew, from Talbot Green, Wales, hopes to inspire others to believe in themselves.

"I want to inspire people and give them hope. To tell them that if you keep fighting and believing you will get to your dreams," he said. The Traitors star is an advocate for exercise for mental well-being, and often posts on his social media about the power of getting outdoors.

In a recent post of him in the sea, he said: "Did I mention being outdoors makes me happy, life is too short to be anything but happy. Choose things that give you joy, choose love, choose positivity. Your mindset can change everything!"
