A beloved former Radio City DJ, known as a "legend" and "true gentleman" has passed away.
Johnny Kennedy, a well-known radio presenter and entertainer, has sadly died, with many paying their respects. Johnny's voice was a familiar one, not just at Radio City but also on Dune FM, Wirral Radio, and River Radio.
Dune Radio shared: "Very sad news to hear that radio legend Johnny Kennedy has sadly passed away. Johnny not only worked with us from our launch day as Sandgrounder Radio in June 2016 for a few years but also when we ran the station on a temporary 28-day broadcast licence in 2015. Our thoughts are with Johnny's friends and family at this very sad time. RIP JK JD."
Billy Butler, a veteran broadcaster, also honoured him: "So sad to hear of the passing of Johnny Kennedy comedian, DJ, vocalist, opera singer, marathon runner, charity champion and devoted husband. Always great company. My deepest sympathy to Linda who was his rock. Love lives on."
Johnny was branded a 'legend' and 'true gentleman'Pete Price added his condolences: "So sad Linda McDermott has lost the love of her life, Johnny Kennedy. Linda said we loved and adored each other. True soulmates from the moment we met 35 years ago. The joy we received from each other's company was truly immeasurable. We were inseparable, perfect mutual adoration."

John Martin shared his sadness: "So sad to hear the news of the passing of former Radio City DJ Johnny Kennedy. I wrote in my book about how supportive he was when I was a young comic. I was on his radio show many times. He worked the clubs with my dad long before I came into the business. RIP Legendary JK."
Neil Newton also paid tribute: "Really sad to hear of the passing of a great friend, mentor and my radio Dad - Johnny Kennedy. From answering the phones for JKJD at Radio City, to Dune FM, River Radio, Wirral Radio and Sandgrounder, we worked together since 1996. Rest in peace JK. Love you."
Mark Blackman expressed his grief: "Just hearing the news that Johnny Kennedy has very sadly passed on after a long illness. Worked with JK at Dune FM Southport, such a gentleman who was really complimentary about my presenting style, god bless you JK."
Anne Dalton from ABD Productions remembered Johnny fondly: "So sad to hear of the passing of Johnny Kennedy. He played the lead, Joe Wragg, in so many of the professional productions of "Her Benny" over the past thirty years. A lovely lyrical tenor, entertaining raconteur, consummate professional and true gentleman."
She added: "We'll treasure the magical performances from the man who inspired so many members of cast and made, with them, the countless, happy memories we all share. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. He will be sadly missed."
