Prince Harry is reportedly not allowed to speak to Kate Middleton without getting his wife Meghan Markle’s permission first, a royal expert has claimed.
The Duke of Sussex had a close friendship with sister-in-law Kate when she began dating his brother Prince William, and the trio were thick as thieves at public events in the months after William and Kate’s wedding. However, their relationship became fraught when Harry got engaged to Meghan Markle, and the new bride fought over a bridesmaid dress with Kate in the run-up to the big day.
The women were all smiles as they attended events together, such as Wimbledon, but behind the scenes, their relationship was tense, and Harry alleged his brother William had physically assaulted him as they rowed over Meghan’s reported behaviour. The Duchess of Sussex attempted to explain the apparent rift between her and Kate during the couple’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey, however, the bad blood intensified.

Kinsey Schofield told the To Di For Daily podcast: “I personally don’t believe that Harry would speak to Catherine privately without Meghan’s blessing.”

She also claimed William and Kate, who were awarded the titles of the Prince and Princess of Wales when King Charles ascended the throne, are too “laser-focused on their goals” to worry about Harry and Meghan and have “made it a point to distance themselves” from the publicity-seeking couple. The Sussexes stepped down as senior royals in 2020, and an official statement at the time confirmed they would not “continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service”.

Harry and Meghan have made a series of claims regarding William and Kate since they stepped down as senior royals, and according to Robert Hardman, author of a new memoir about King Charles III, the Duke of Sussex will not be allowed to rejoin the monarchy amid rumours couple are planning to return to the UK. “Charles would love to have him back in the fold, not being royal again - I think that ship has sailed, and I'm sure Harry would not want to do that,” he told GB News.
