Earlier this week it was claimed that Queen Elizabeth was "infuriated" by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's claim that she had given her blessing to their daughter being named Lilibet.
Lilibet was the Queen's affectionate childhood nickname given to her, which was used by her close friends, family and husband Prince Philip. So in 2021, when the news broke that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had named their daughter Lilibet, the world was in shock.
At the time, it was reported that Queen Elizabeth "was not asked by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex about naming their daughter Lilibet," as per a Palace source. But a spokesperson for the Sussexes insisted they would not have used the name had the Queen not been supportive. The spokesperson said: "The duke spoke with his family in advance of the announcement - in fact, his grandmother was the first family member he called.

Earlier this week an extract from Robert Hardman's new biography, Charles III: New King, New Court was released, with it claiming: "One privately recalled that Elizabeth II had been 'as angry as I'd ever seen her' in 2021 after the Sussexes announced that she had given them her blessing to call their baby daughter 'Lilibet', the Queen's childhood nickname.
"The couple subsequently fired off warnings of legal action against anyone who dared to suggest otherwise, as the BBC had done. However, when the Sussexes tried to co-opt the Palace into propping up their version of events, they were rebuffed."
And now, it has been claimed that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "should have handled things differently".
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Lynn Carratt from Press Box PR has commented on the current discourse surrounding Princess Lilibet and her name. She said: "It is believed Harry had a close relationship with his grandmother, the Queen, and held her in high regard.
"While some believe that Harry and Meghan could have handled things differently, it is generally believed that they named their daughter Lilibet as a tribute to the Queen. However, it appears that they chose the name before seeking permission, as they had already registered the domain Lilibet Diana prior to the birth of their daughter.
"The way Meghan and Harry have spoken out since Megxit has caused much upset within the royal family and they should have handled things very differently."
Lynn went on: "If the Queen had expressed displeasure about the name Lilibet to Harry, I believe he could have convinced Megan to change it. It seems like the name was chosen with good intentions, regardless of any controversy surrounding it."
Concluding her expert analysis of the situation, she added: "However, I do think that the constant negative stories about the royal family are becoming tiresome for the public.
"Megan and Harry should focus on their work with Netflix and showcase their philanthropy efforts. Public opinion towards them, particularly in the UK, is at an all-time low. To improve their image, they should work on repairing their relationship with the royal family and demonstrate their value to win back public support."
