Manchester United are enjoying some time off in between Premier League and FA Cup responsibilities, and that leaves time for plenty of speculation about the club's transfer business.

The arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe is not expected to prompt any extravagant January spending, but that doesn't mean United will do nothing at all in the winter window. This time last year they made three loan signings, with Dutch striker Wout Weghorst among the trio, and they have already been clearing some space in their squad.

United exercised a break clause in Sergio Reguilon's loan deal at the start of the window and sent Donny van de Beek on loan to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Another member of the first-team squad completed a move in the middle of the month, with Hannibal Mejbri joining Sevilla on loan. So, might United follow up the exits with an entrance or two? Here are the latest lines from around Old Trafford.

Youngster Mejia moves to Spain

Mateo Mejia has completed a permanent move from Manchester United to Sevilla. The Spain-born forward, a Colombia under-20 international, leaves Old Trafford without a senior competitive game under his belt.

The 20-year-old was involved for United in pre-season, playing in the friendly against Wrexham. He also made nine appearances in Premier League 2 this term, scoring three goals and adding five assists, and played three times in the EFL Trophy.

United reportedly have a sell-on clause in the deal but have not received a fee for the youngster. Mejia will link up with the Spanish side's B team, Sevilla Atletico, who are managed by Jesus Galvan.

Summer target Ramos could be back on the market

Manchester United failed to beat Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Goncalo Ramos over the summer, but question marks over the Portugal striker could open the door to a fresh move. Ramos, who led the line for Portugal at the World Cup, joined PSG for £69m after an initial loan but has found things tough in France.

According to L'Equipe (via The Sun), manager Luis Enrique has started to have doubts about the 22-year-old. Ramos, who has missed games through illness and injury this term, has three goals from 13 Ligue 1 appearances but barely featured in the Champions League group stage.

Over the summer, United captain Bruno Fernandes said he felt his international team-mate had the quality to thrive in the Premier League. The pair were part of the Portugal squad which reached the World Cup quarter-finals, with Ramos bagging a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory over Switzerland in the round of 16.

Hannibal explains reason for leaving

United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has opened up on the conversations he had with his Old Trafford team-mates before moving to Sevilla on loan. The Tunisian could complete a permanent switch over the summer if his time under Quique Sanchez Flores proves a success.

Hannibal was out on loan when United lost 3-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan to drop out of Europe last term, but has heard all about the home atmosphere. Speaking at his unveiling, the Tunisia international made particular reference to that game and the atmosphere in general.

"The game here was crazy," the 20-year-old said. "Before coming, my United teammates told me about the fans, the atmosphere there. It's nice to play for a team with fans like this because they help you when you're in difficult times."
