Ruby Franke’s husband has requested compensation payments from the disgraced YouTube mum’s business partner, for the two children who suffered at Franke’s hands.
Franke, 42, ran the YouTube channel “8 passengers” and worked alongside Jodi Hildebrandt, founder of Connexion Classroom. The pair pleaded guilty to multiple counts of aggravated child abuse, after it was exposed when Franke’s 12-year-old son escaped through the window of Hildebrandt’s house to speak to a neighbour.
According to police, the child had duct tape on their ankles and wrists when they went round to the neighbour to ask for food and water. Bodycam footage showed the moment police burst into the home and scoured it room by room to find the children and Franke. Franke and Hildebrandt are both set to be sentenced on February 20 this year.

When the case finally concludes in around September 2024, the costs for child care will rest upon the children and Kevin Franke, court documents state. But the documents state that this would be an “inequitable” outcome which places unfair financial pressure on the victims of the heinous crime.

“This would be a completely inequitable result; that the victims and victims’ family would have to pay for their own treatment for injuries caused by [Hildebrandt],” state the court documents. It adds that Hildebrandt should have sufficient resources for restitution while she still has her assets - however this might not last long, as her resources could be at risk of liquidation. Kevin wants to prevent this happening so he isn’t landed with a colossal medical bill, according to ABC affiliate KTVX.
The Crime Victims Restitution Act holds that child victims are entitled to restitution to compensate for “any and all ongoing treatment of these injuries” according to the court documents. In the form of real estate, financial accounts and other personal property, it is reported that Hildebrandt has sufficient assets and resources to pay for restitution.

Kevin’s attorney states the children should be entitled to a share of any profit from the sale, with the home listed at $5.1 million. The court documents requested that the court prevent Hildebrandt from signing, disposing of, concealing or transferring the property before she is sentenced in February.
