Prince Andrew has reportedly embarked on a special New Year diet that staff say is putting him in a "terrible mood".

The disgraced Duke of York has rarely left his home Royal Lodge in Windsor after court documents revealing the names of people associated with Jeffery Epstein, and who had allegedly visited his island, were released. Andrew is named 67 times in the documents which were part of a 2015 lawsuit filed against Ghislaine Maxwell, who was found guilty of trafficking women and girls for Epstein to sexually abuse in December 2021. And according to reports, he has been continuing a weightloss programme while at home and he is said to hate it.

A source told The Sun: "Andrew has been in a terrible mood and more grumpy than usual. But it has nothing to do with the unsealed court files. It’s because he is on a special diet. He hates it and it makes him irritable."

At the weekend, Andrew, 63, was seen enjoying a day of shooting with his pals on the royal estate and was seen leading the hunt. It has been just the second time he was been spotted since the release of the documents.

There is no suggestion that Andrew, or anyone else named in the court documents, had anything to do with Epstein's crimes or had any knowledge of them. However, Virginia Giuffre is one of dozens of women who sued Epstein and claimed he abused them in his homes in Florida, New York, New Mexico and the US Virgin Islands.

Ms Giuffre claims Epstein pressured her to have sex with multiple men in his high-up social circles, including Andrew. The royal strenuously denied the claims made against him and subsequently settled a civil trial with Giuffre lodged against him in the US.

Last week it was also claimed Andrew had "locked himself away" after he was left reeling by the claims over his links with Epstein. A source told the Mirror the Duke "had no idea how to respond" and had not ventured out since bombshell allegations were made in the newly released Epstein files. They said: "He doesn't have the emotional bandwidth to deal with this. He has locked himself away in a room and has no idea how to respond. He's devastated."
