The Traitors Jaz opens up on father's devastating betrayal and second family
The Traitors star Jaz has revealed that he was left devastated after finding out his dad had a secret second family that he had kept hidden for years.
The 30-year-old National Account Manager was sat among the group when he decided to share the heartbreaking news, during last night's episode. When asked what he would do if he won the cash prize, Jaz responded saying that he would use the money to rebuild his family.
And this prompted looks of confusion and disbelief until he decided to open up and reveal the full story. He said: "Growing up my dad was my absolute idol, everyone respects him, he's considered quite influential, powerful. That's the man I want to be. And then we found out he had a whole second family that we didn't know anything about. He was a grandad."

That level of betrayal is just difficult to experience at a young age, so then you start to think 'can you trust people', like that's my dad. That is painful. When your dad is your idol, you don't want to be told that he's not what he was supposed to be. My father was a central piece of the jigsaw, so when you take that central piece out, it's almost like a Jenga block that comes crashing down. And slowly but surely I'm in the process of building up my family because that was absolutely devastating."
Earlier in the episode Jaz was concerned that fellow contestant Paul was in fact a Traitor rather than Faithful after noticing a few tactical moves. Speaking to the camera, Jaz said: "Never take kindness for weakness because I've been through so much in my life after having quite a rocky upbringing. I know what its like to be lied to, so I don't trust anyone in this place."
Claudia Winkleman to host The Traitors series 2 as dramatic return confirmed
Ahead of joining the show Jaz explained the reason he applied: " I think it was my in-laws to be honest, they were halfway through an episode of series one and said to me and the missus, 'Have you watched this? Sit down with us and watch this right now. We watched it, looked at each other and said, 'This is just amazing'. I liked everything about it. Obviously, we then watched the whole series and it totally resonated with everything I’ve been through."
He continued: "After watching, I never thought there was going to be A) a second series, B) that I was going to apply, and C) I was going to be selected. It’s like the stars have aligned themselves. I’m a bit cheesy and I think everything happens for a reason but, genuinely, everything just feels right."
