Strictly Come Dancing's Bobby Brazier teases 'scary' career change after show

Strictly Come Dancing star Bobby Brazier has teased a potentially "scary" career change following his success on the BBC One series.

The EastEnders star, 20, who plays Freddie Slater, finished as a finalist with professional partner Dianne Buswell and the duo are teaming up again for the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing Live! tour. Appearing on Friday's Lorraine, the duo spoke about the show and upcoming tour.

However, chat soon turned to life after Strictly with Bobby asked about a potential career change. Guest host Christine Lampard said: "The last time we spoke, Bobby, you [said you] love dancing so much you just couldn't imagine it not being in your life. Not necessarily daily but you need it quite often. The musical theatre approach is such a natural potential job for you now and would you genuinely think about that?"

To which Bobby admitted: "I would, I think that would be really, really, really fun to perform in front of an audience every night, dance and act at same time. Merge those two worlds together. I think I'd really enjoy it but it's also a little bit scary."

It comes as Bobby has propelled his family into the spotlight as they have landed a reality show following his Strictly success. Bobby is the eldest son of late reality star Jade Goody – who died aged 27 in 2009 after she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Shipwrecked star Jeff Brazier, 44, is the father of Bobby and Big Brother star Jade’s other son Freddie – and he welcomed his sons during his short romance with Jade, which lasted from 2002 until 2004.

It was reported over Christmas that Jeff and Freddie will be contestants in the 2024 season of Celebrity Race Around the World on BBC One. The pair will join other celebrities as they try to make their way from one point of the world to another with minimal resources.

Their involvement on the show will mean they join Bobby on the BBC as he is a cast member on EastEnders. A source told The Sun: "Being in the audience almost every week on Strictly has certainly helped to raise the profile of Jeff. Bobby’s done wonders for the Brazier name and it seems producers want to get in on the action as soon as possible. It’s a bit of a coup to have got on Celebrity Race Against the World, as it turned out to be one of 2023’s biggest telly hits."
