ITV This Morning's Alison Hammond apologises as phone blunder causes chaos

Alison Hammond was forced to apologise on Friday's This Morning as her phone caused chaos in the ITV studio.

The presenter, 48, opened the show with co-host Dermot O'Leary as they commented on how different the set looked after a makeover. However, Dermot, 50, was quick to point out: "Is that your phone? I love how it blends in with the set!" as the camera panned to Alison's phone on the side.

But the phone soon caused chaos as Dermot attempted to read out the show's upcoming lineup when he realised it was going off, prompting him to quickly turned to Alison and say: "Oh my God, did you not turn it off?"

Alison quickly replied: "I did turn it off, that's not me, it wasn't me!" she then grabbed her phone before adding: "Oh, it was! I thought I had it on aeroplane mode, hold on, let me turn it off. I'm so sorry!" while Dermot explained: "To be fair, she was on aeroplane mode, it's not her fault!"

This isn't the first time Alison's phone has caused chaos on the show and last year the star's phone started ringing as a caller opened up during an emotional phone-in. Alison was forced to apologise as her phone started ringing while caller Lily said she has been feeling unsupported after giving birth to her newborn daughter seven weeks ago.

As caller Lily was offered advice on the situation, Alison’s phone started loudly ringing, leaving her flustered as she pulled it from her pocket to quickly switch it off, saying: "I’m so sorry everybody. I’m so sorry." At the end of the segment, Alison apologised again, and co-host Dermot replied: "Don’t worry. It happens," before he jokingly whispered: "Never let it happen again."

This Morning fans were left cringing at the time and took to Twitter, now X, to comment on the moment, with one posting: "Oh, Alison! Why didn't you put your phone on silent?" Another wrote: "I’d have thought turning your phone off while presenting would be a NO BRAINER", a different account put: "Classic Alison Hammond - phone rings during a serious phone-in," alongside a cry-laughing emoji while another person added: "How does Alison not know to have her phone on silent? Like TV presenting 101."
