Emmerdale dropped some big village news on Thursday night's hour-long special.
During the latest episode, Liam Cavanagh and Manpreet Sharma declared some exciting news during a meeting with Wendy Posner, revealing that the doctor's surgery is finding a new home and will be moving to an ideal location in the village. Listing reasons for the move, the doctors joked that a ten second commute was a very ideal factor.
The news was overheard by an excited Jacob Gallagher, who is currently training and studying to be a doctor. And the new location ties in perfectly to a newcomer's arrival next week on the hit ITV soap. In upcoming scenes, the new arrival in the village risks a devastating split.

Things go from bad to worse when partner Paddy Kirk panders to him and refuses to introduce Mandy as his girlfriend. Later, Paddy opens up to Mandy about his insecurities around Jules. Mandy is left hurt but agrees to support her partner Paddy at the event.

But it's not long until Mandy overhears Jules lambasting his PA, Ella, and Mandy consoles her. Then, when Jules makes some more rude comments about Mandy, a furious Ella pours a drink over him. Returning to the group, Paddy mistakenly blames Mandy for the chaos. Can Mandy forgive partner Paddy's behaviour or could they split?
The new location ties in perfectly to a newcomer's arrival next week on the hit ITV soap (ITV)Taking on the role of Ella is former Coronation Street star Paula Lane. The actress, 37, is best known for her role as Kylie Platt in Corrie. New character Ella is described as being "compassionate and caring". Emmerdale further teased: "Far from a pushover, luck is soon to come Ella’s way when a chance encounter with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) opens up an opportunity. And it’s not long before Ella is turning heads in the village."
Reflecting on her new role, Paula said: "I'm so excited to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can't wait to start a new chapter playing the role of Ella. I've already heard there are big plans for her and I can't wait to see her navigate a new life in the village and hopefully make some friends!"
While producer, Kate Brooks, added: "Ella is a complex and multi-layered character who comes to the village and certainly makes an impact. Ostensibly she's a good, moral character, but is there more to her than meets the eye? We are absolutely thrilled to welcome an actor of Paula's calibre to the show and we can't wait to have her light up our screens."
