Liverpool have so far confirmed one deal in the January transfer window.

Portuguese midfielder Fabio Carvalho was recalled from RB Leipzig before being sent out on another loan - this time to Championship side Hull City. That might not be the only business that the Reds do over the next couple of weeks.

A number of the club’s most promising youngsters could be set for their own loan moves away from Anfield. Jurgen Klopp could also decide to sign a new centre-back following Joel Matip’s long-term injury.

Take a look at all of the standout rumours to come out of Anfield over the past 24 hours...

Salah contract talks to come

Liverpool are set to hold talks with Mo Salah over the coming weeks as they attempt to extend his stay at Anfield. The Egyptian has just 18 months left on his current contract amid rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool’s plan was to address Salah’s deal in the new year and did not want to open discussions in 2023. However, talks are not expected to be straightforward, especially with the forward focusing on his Africa Cup of Nations commitments with Egypt.

Away from Salah, Liverpool are also anticipated to launch talks with Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. The pair also see their deals expire in the summer of 2025.

Liverpool’s Mbappe contact still on

While Salah’s future has yet to be decided, Liverpool remain candidates to sign Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman is a long-term target for the Reds and he would be available on a free transfer this summer.

Real Madrid are in the driving seat but it has been suggested that Liverpool might have not admitted defeat just yet. According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Reds have never broken contact with Mbappe’s representatives regarding a switch to Anfield.

Mbappe, 25, is enjoying another stellar season for PSG. He has scored 25 goals in just 24 games for the Ligue 1 champions this term.

Klopp apologises to Jones

Liverpool boss Klopp has been forced to stage an apology to Curtis Jones for his lack of game time this season. "Curtis is super, super, super important to us and he knows that," the German said after the Carabao Cup victory against Fulham.

"Coincidentally I heard his interview and the only thing to break through was 'I need more game time'. I love that! So sorry Curtis that I didn’t give you more game time earlier.

"He has made big steps. He looked like the fittest player on the whole pitch. He got a knock, I think a dead leg, he went down, but then a second later he turned around and scored.”
