It can be seriously annoying when you have a recurring dream and you're not sure what it means - but if you're having one common dream this January, it could mean you're feeling a bit insecure according to dream experts.
As the new year begins, it's likely your notepad is packed full of the things you want to achieve this year. Whether it's eating healthier, exercising more, getting promoted at work, getting more quality sleep, reading more books, or just living in the moment, the cogs of your brain will be whirring around as you try and get one step closer to your goals.
With work potentially on your mind as you lay in bed trying to catch more Zzz's, it may be the last thing you think of before you hit the land of nod, making it very likely that you dream about work. But if you dream that you're getting fired, or you've made a career-ending mistake, it could have a deeper meaning in the wider context of your life.
Theresa Cheung, the author of The Dream Dictionary, spoke to Metro.co.uk about what it means to have such a mortifying dream, and it could mean you're feeling "insecure", or suffering from "imposter syndrome."
She explained that if work-related dreams cause you "anxiety", it can reflect "insecurity, fear of failure, and imposter syndrome" in the real world.

It's not all bad, however, as your dreaming mind often takes you to the "worst-case scenario to toughen you up and help you strive to do better." Theresa said that this type of dream can be a "great incentive" to make sure you're "better prepared" for work-related things you may be nervous about in real life, as you don't want things to take a bad turn like they did in your dream.
"Getting fired from your job has a similar interpretation to career-ending mistake dreams, although in this case the dream is also reminding you that some things are outside your control - change what you can and accept what you can not", Theresa shared, encouraging people to cultivate "inner peace and happiness as nobody can take that away from you."
