Meghan Markle's co-star's 'toe-curling moment' as he's asked about her acting

Meghan Markle's on-screen husband used a "political swerve" when discussing her acting career comeback, claims a body language expert.

Suits star Patrick J. Adams, who played Meghan's character Rachel's husband Mike in the popular legal drama, was being interviewed at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards when he was asked about the Duchess of Sussex's potential future in Hollywood.

He initially told reporters that the showbiz industry would be "lucky" to have Meghan back on-screen, but now a leading body language expert tells The Mirror his answer wasn't quite as it seemed, suggesting a truly "toe-curling moment" on the red carpet.

When asked about Meghan by E! News, Patrick replied: "I think Megan's a fantastic actor, so we'd be lucky to have her back in the industry." But Judi James has since told us he displayed "awkwardness" and was "looking for an escape" from the interview.

Judi explained: "There is a toe-curling moment here as the interviewer seems to be suggesting Patrick makes a spin-off series with both Meghan and his wife Troian, followed by some relief-based laughter when they are told the suggestion did not include Meghan after all. There does seem to be a subtle mood-change from Patrick’s body language when the name of his ex co-star [Meghan] is raised.

"Before Meghan's name was mentioned by the reporter, his pose seemed to suggest an actor who might like to take himself rather seriously, with his hands clasped behind his back and his brows pulled together in an intense-looking frown. His style of humour looks dry but he performs some eye-wrinkling and some pursed mouth smiles to suggest he’s also happy to be a good sport here."

Judi revealed that Patrick looked "happy" when he was being generally asked about Suits, but it was when probed about Meghan coming back to acting that he "hops from one foot to the other", suggesting some "inner awkwardness", according to the expert.

‌"He retains the polite curl of the lips but his answer is speedy and sounds rather sharp: ‘You heard that rumour?’ Troian’s smile seems to drop as she turns to study his face and the response ‘We made the rumour up’ from the interviewer prompts what looks like some relieved laughter," Judi told us after the star-studded awards night in Beverly Hills.

She concluded: "Patrick’s tongue-poke suggests rejection of the subject and it is followed by a tighter lip purse. When asked if he would team up with Meghan his eyes move to the side as though looking for an escape. He uses a political swerve by delaying the direct answer to this question, instead saying that ‘Meghan is a fantastic actress’ and that ‘We’d be lucky to have her back’."
