Isak Hansen-Aaroen is considering his Manchester United future this month after being left 'disappointed' over his lack of first-team opportunities at Old Trafford.

The 19-year-old, who joined United from Norwegian side Tromso in August 2020, has six months left to run on his contract and has been linked with a move in the January transfer window. Talks are ongoing over a possible extension for Hansen-Aaroen, but he has doubts over committing his future to the club.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United want to tie Hansen-Aaroen down to a new four-and-a-half year deal and believe the teenager is in the right environment to fulfil his potential. However, the terms offered are not close to the packages he could receive from elsewhere.

The MEN state Ajax, Atletico Madrid and Napoli are among the teams expected to show an interest in Hansen-Aaroen should he decide to leave United. Hansen-Aaroen 'would love' to stay at the Red Devils but is growing 'frustrated' and is 'disappointed' about not being handed a chance to impress in the club's first-team.

Hansen-Aaroen trained with Erik ten Hag's squad multiple times last week but was overlooked for United's FA Cup tie against Wigan on Monday. The Norway Under 21 international still hasn't made a senior appearance for United, despite being offered assurances of first-team opportunities in pre-season.

Having set up United's second goal in their pre-season victory over Leeds in July, Hansen-Aaroen was by praised by Ten Hag for the influence he showed on the game. "He did well, making a good pass for the first goal," the Dutchman said at the time. "He's really comfortable on the ball; he has good vision and good scanning.

"Of course he's a young player; he has some deficits he needs to work on, which we will show him and tell him (about) and we will work with him to improve him."

Although he is out of contract this summer, United are reluctant to sell in January, and if they did, would insist on a hefty sell-on fee and a low buyback clause. Hansen-Aaroen could sign a new deal at the Red Devils, but would need assurances over game time if he were to commit his future to the club.

During his first season at United, Hansen-Aaroen cemented his place in the Under 18s side before working his way through to the Under 21s. Hansen-Aaroen was part of the Red Devils team - alongside Alejandro Garnarcho - that won the FA Youth Cup in May 2022 after beating Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford.

Last season, Hansen-Aaroen scored three times and grabbed one assist in 22 Premier League 2 appearances. He has since netted twice for the Under 21s this term, with both of them coming in a 10-1 thrashing over Stoke in August.
