If you stuffed yourself silly over the festive period and want a reset, Dry January is the challenge to try - and people will be looking for delicious mocktail recipes to enjoy when their pals are drinking something stronger.

Luckily there's a delicious sounding booze-free tipple courtesy of the Fast 800 diet plan, invented by weight loss guru doctor Michael Mosley.

The "gut-loving" mocktail contains kombucha - a fermented sweet tea that contains "naturally occurring beneficial microbes for your gut."

Fermented foods are great for your gut, can "reduce your risk of various chronic illnesses", and even "improve your mood," according to Mosley. The drink also only contains 36 calories, meaning it can be enjoyed as part of a health kick.

The instructions to make the drink are really easy, but the result looks the part. First, you need to get a glass of your choosing and put ice in it. Then, you need to pour in the kombucha, and sparkling water, and then squeeze the juice of half an orange into the glass. Then, simply garnish it with a slice of orange and a thyme sprig.

In the notes of the recipe, it reads: "Kombucha is a fermented sweet tea that contains naturally occurring beneficial microbes for your gut. It can be found in the refrigerator section of the supermarket and health food stores. Avoid kombucha in the soft drink aisles as this generally has added sugars and doesn't contain the live microbes."

It also explained that the process of fermentation "encourages yeast or bacteria to break down carbohydrates (sugars) into alcohol or acid, creating probiotics which help to feed and balance our gut microbiome", which is why eating healthily and consuming fermented foods can aid rapid weight loss.
