Emmerdale new arrival risks devastating split for one loved-up village couple

Emmerdale is set for more drama next week when a new arrival in the village risks a devastating split.

In upcoming scenes, Mandy Dingle arrives at the vets social, dressed in an extravagant Elizabeth Hurley inspired outfit complete with safety pins. However, when a loud-mouthed managing director, Jules, rudely teases her about her black dress, her blood boils.

Things go from bad to worse when partner Paddy Kirk panders to him and refuses to introduce Mandy as his girlfriend. Later, Paddy opens up to Mandy about his insecurities around Jules. Mandy is left hurt but agrees to support her partner Paddy at the event.

Yet it's not long until Mandy overhears Jules lambasting his PA, Ella, to which Mandy consoles her. And when Jules makes some more rude comments about Mandy, a furious Ella pours a drink over him. Returning to the group, Paddy mistakenly blames Mandy for the chaos. Can Mandy forgive partner Paddy's behaviour or could they split?

Taking on the role of Ella is former Coronation Street star Paula Lane. The actress, 37, is best known for her role as Kylie Platt in Corrie. New character Ella is described as being "compassionate and caring". Emmerdale further teased: "Far from a pushover, luck is soon to come Ella’s way when a chance encounter with Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) opens up an opportunity. And it’s not long before Ella is turning heads in the village."

Reflecting on her new role, Paula said: "I'm so excited to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can't wait to start a new chapter playing the role of Ella. I've already heard there are big plans for her and I can't wait to see her navigate a new life in the village and hopefully make some friends!"

While producer, Kate Brooks, added: "Ella is a complex and multi-layered character who comes to the village and certainly makes an impact. Ostensibly she's a good, moral character, but is there more to her than meets the eye? We are absolutely thrilled to welcome an actor of Paula's calibre to the show and we can't wait to have her light up our screens." Ella isn't the only new character as Caleb Miligan's ex or not so ex wife Ruby Fox-Milligan will be coming to the village in 2024.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
