Unless you want your t-shirts frozen, it'll be a while before you can dry your laundry outside.

The Winter weather isn't improving anytime soon, with temperatures predicted to plummet as low as -8 degrees Celsius today in parts of the country. But drying your clothes inside means either whacking the heating on high and being left with a hefty energy bill, or using a tumble dryer which can also be expensive.

It's a rock/hard place situation that Brits across the nation are facing. Drying clothes indoors can cause mould problems, which can cause serious complications for children and those with respiratory issues. If severe mould ravages the house - it could cost you up to £3,000 to remove it.

Greg Wilson, founder and CEO of Quotezone.co.uk, says many people are unaware of the impact drying clothes indoors can have. "Wet clothes release moisture into the home as they start to dry which can develop into mould and damp, causing mild allergies, aggravating asthma or worse," he said.

The pro warns that avoiding the tumble dryer completely may be a mistake. In fact, Wilson recommends drying clothes for a while in the tumble dryer and then letting them finish off on a drying rack. "Make sure the room is well ventilated, a dehumidifier can help to reduce moisture levels and promote air flow," he added.
