This is the moment King Charles was fascinated by a handmade Land Rover two children were playing with near the Sandringham estate.

Georgina Ward's sons William, six, and three-year-old Oliver were playing with the green car, which has a number plate which reads "William", as Georgina and husband Simon went to catch a glimpse of royals ahead of a service at St Mary Magdalene Church.

Charles was intrigued by the car, made by 35-year-old Georgina’s father-in-law, Chris Ward, and met Georgina and Simon. Georgina, a nurse, said: "It was a very surreal experience... We went to see (Charles) go in and we weren’t planning on seeing him come out, but because he made such a beeline for the Landy to start with, we thought we had to go back and show him it.

"He came back and was asking questions about whether it was handmade and whether it ran, whether it used a pedal and if we’d crashed into any trees."

The mother of two, who is from East Winch, Norfolk, said William and Oliver were a bit shell-shocked” to meet the monarch. It was a "very special moment for them," Georgina continued. She added: "We go out with it most Sundays, so it just made sense to take it today and show the King."

Charles was visiting St Mary Magdalene Church, which is just to the southwest of Sandringham House. The royals regularly attend church services there, most notably on Christmas Day. Last month, King Charles led the way as the Royal Family attended the traditional ceremony.

Royal fans gathered as the Prince and Princess of Wales walked hand in hand with their children George, Charlotte and Louis from Sandringham house on their way to St Mary Magdalene Church.

They walked behind the King and Queen, who were greeted by about a thousand local residents, many of whom had waited hours on Christmas morning to catch a glimpse of the family. Prince Harry and Meghan will celebrate Christmas at their home in Los Angeles.

For the second year in succession the disgraced Duke of York walked from Sandringham to church with the family. Andrew's alleged links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein will come under further scrutiny in the new year with the release of hundreds of files from a defamation case, after a ruling by a US judge.
