A mum has issued a 'public service announcement' to parents who try to make their children stand out by giving them a 'unique name'. She claims her child, who has a traditional name, has ended up standing out in class as they're surrounded by 'overly unique individuals'.

Taking to Reddit, she said; "Who would have thought the traditional name we picked for our child would actually be the stand-out among their classmates. Here are all the fifth graders at our school." The list reads: "Kynlee, Zayd'n, Collin, Manuel, Slayden, Kynsleigh, Bryleigh, Jazlynn, Zack, Alex, Claire, Mya, Jack, Kaydynce, A.J, Samuel, Audree, Mac Diego, Finlay, Mayleigh, Chloe, Marylin, Eli, Jakoby, Connor, Harper, Abigail, A'Marre, Ivana, Caden, Kais, Audi, Blythe, Levi, Tyson, Eliana, Thomas, James, Lyer, Zaylee, Owen and Brylie."

While some users shared their thoughts about the names included in the list, others commented on how parents go "overboard" when naming their children these days. One user said: "Audi? Seriously? Is he outside playing with his cousins Volkswagen and fricking Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat?"

Another user added: "Imagine an old man named Slayden in a nursing home in 80 years." A third user said: "Interesting that the tragedeighs are mingled with deeply traditional names like James, Thomas, Samuel, and Abigail."

One more user said: "I have a five-month-old. I am looking forward to all the stupid names I get to see and hear about when he's eventually in school." A fifth user added: "Imagine thinking your little Zayd'n is going to have the coolest name in school only to have Slayden in his class."

Taking it upon themselves to rank the names into 'normal', 'semi-normal', and 'wacky', another user commented: "So here's my analysis of normal vs semi-normal vs wacky names. Seems like a good balance.

"Normal: Collin, Manuel, Zack, Alex, Claire, Mya, Jack, A.J., Samuel, Max, Diego, Chloe R, Marylin, Eli, Chloe B, Connor, Harper, Abigail, Ivana, Levi, Tyson, Eliana, Thomas, James, Owen.
