Dating expert shares why singletons aren't having much luck on dating apps
A dating expert has lifted the lid on why people may be struggling to find the "one" on dating apps.
The world of dating can be a treacherous place, and with a plethora of different online dating apps, there seems to be lots of potential singletons out there. But people may find themselves just aimlessly swiping and not making any proper connections.
In a bid to swipe right for the perfect person, it isn't as easy as it seems, and relationship and sex expert Dr Caroline West has claimed people may not be doing it right in order to find a match.
Those who use dating apps will know the frustration of online dating, and the cycle of downloading and deleting is all too familiar, but Dr Caroline, who is also an ambassador for dating app Bumble has urged daters to "make it clear" what their intentions are.
January is the most popular time for people to download dating apps according to Dr Caroline. According to research, around 39 per cent of relationships these days start online.

Speaking to RSVP she said: "You will get frustrated if you're looking for a good time, a one-night only thing but all the people you're meeting with are older and wanting to settle down, and vice versa. So do that self-reflection and go, what actually works for me? If you're wanting to settle down but you're only having short-term relationships, have a look at the kind of person you're looking for, and also what you bring to the table as well."
She also advised to "have a think" about the kinds of values you want in a partner, as well as values you also have for yourself. Dr Caroline also stated that it's important to not spend "all day every day" on the apps and to set yourself limits to avoid getting "burnt out".
Dr Caroline also advised people to not base their judgement on a first glance. She explained: "Have realistic expectations. You can't look at someone for two seconds and know everything about them. Have a look at their profile, and see if you get good vibes from them rather than judging them straight away because you don't like that one picture. Try to look at the person overall."
