A rogue tissue in a load of laundry is far from ideal.

If you've ever pulled your supposed-to-be-clean clothes from the drum, only to realise everything is covered in white bits off fluff - you know the importance of checking pockets before chucking your jeans into the wash. But what do you do when all of your outfits look like a stone-chipped wall?

Re-washing the entire load in hope the ubiquitous fluff will disappear is a costly and time-consuming way correcting the mistake. But other than that, you'll have to spend hours lint rolling your knickers and tops until every spec of tissue has been taken care of. However, one woman has taken the chaos to the next level, and says the mistake was 'far worse' than a pesky tissue.

Emily is a mum of three young children: the route of the whole saga. During the festive period, she forgot to double check the contents of the laundry before starting the cycle. Turns out, there was a nappy in there.

"The first thing I noticed was this big, lumpy mess in the washing machine door. I immediately went 'oh NO!' so loud my 7yo in the other room came running," the parents told Kidspot. "My first thought was that the kids had put one of their toys in there and it had exploded. You know those ones that are filled with gel balls? Like this type of situation."

Turns out, the gooey substance came from the absorbent gel used in nappies. Emily says the 'sticky' stuff was 'everywhere' and she ended up re-running the load through the laundry again.

"[I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do but it seems to have have worked," she added. "Then I just re-rinsed everything." Emily insists she will be more 'wary' of her 18-month-year-old, who is the main culprit in nappy gate.
