Woman stabbed to death at home as man arrested after handing himself in
Detectives have launched a murder probe after a woman was stabbed to death in South London.
A man walked into a police station in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) saying he'd harmed a woman at a house on Parbury Road in Lewisham, the Met Police said. Officers who attended the home found the body of a 32-year-old woman.
Family of the woman, who has not yet been named, have been informed and are "devastated", the lead on the case said. They're currently being supported by specialist officers as the investigation gets underway.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “This is a tragic incident that has left a family devastated. While I understand the shock that will be felt by the local community, I would like to stress that we are not looking for any other people in connection with the murder and there is no immediate risk to the public.
A police scene remained in place on Wednesday (UKNIP)“My thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones at this sad time.” A 38-year-old man meanwhile was arrested on suspicion and was taken to hospital as a precaution. He'll then be taken into custody for questioning.

A crime scene remained in place on Wednesday as the investigation was carried out. Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, who leads policing for the South East Command, said: "We recognise the concern and worry this tragic incident will have caused to residents in the local area and we are supporting our homicide colleagues as they conduct their investigation.
“I would like to thank those living in the area around the crime scene for their patience and understanding as officers and specialists go about their enquiries. My thoughts are with the victim's family."
