Meghan Markle dealt blow in 'humiliating' update about her bombshell memoir
Meghan Markle has reportedly faced "humiliation" over her rumoured book as publishers appear to throw a spanner in the works.
After the release of her husband Prince Harry's memoir Spare, the Duchess of Sussex was thought to be planning a big release of her own. But it looks like that will now be further delayed after an update from publishers which is certain to slow things down.
The 42-year-old apparently needs to pen at least three chapters of her book before any form of payment is released, according to royal commentator Neil Sean. It's a move reportedly used to tell if a book is "worthwhile" for publication, a major hurdle Neil says will have likely caused upset in the former working royals' household.

Meghan's upcoming memoir will now likely be delayed (WireImage)"A few publishers did show interest, they feel they can make a buck but it's all about the money they would have to shell out," Neil explained on his YouTube channel. "Can you imagine the humiliation when they said they'd like to see at least three chapters first to see how the story pans out. In the world of publishing, this means one thing."

"They want to see if you've got a worthwhile story. The sticking point is they can't trust giving anything out to a publisher without top level security because it could get leaked and then the whole deal will be ruined," he explained.
It comes after Neil claimed Meghan and Harry have been left wondering why they need to follow "different rules" to other members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are thought to be confused by Sarah, the Duchess of York, appearing on ITV shows including Lorraine and This Morning. Her daytime telly antics are thought to create some 'misunderstanding' for the former working royals.
Neil says Meghan and Harry simply "don't understand" why Fergie can sell books and advertise "under the Royal Family", and they can't. Taking to his YouTube channel, Neil questioned the Duchess of York's new career in TV.
"The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women and billing herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family," he explained. "Meghan and Harry seemingly don't understand why it's a different rule for her."
It comes after Prince Harry mentioned in his and Meghan's documentary series that he gets homesick for the UK, but one royal expert doesn't seem to believe it. In the 2022 Netflix series, Harry & Meghan, the Duke of Sussex said: "I miss the UK, I miss my friends." The 39-year-old moved to California with his wife and then-only child Archie in 2020, shortly after they excused themselves from royal duties.
However, royal expert Michael Cole doesn't quite think that the youngest son of King Charles is being completely honest. Michael told GB News: "He said he misses Britain and misses the British way of life, well it is a strange way of showing it." He continued: "They have an agenda. That agenda is very unhelpful and hurtful to his family."
