Jon Rahm is still yet to confirm his LIV Golf team and teammates for the 2024 season, with the opening event in Mayakoba, Mexico just one month away.

Rahm made golfing history last month, signing a reported £450 million deal to join the Saudi-backed series. As part of his move from the PGA Tour, it was announced that Rahm would be given the chance to form and captain his own team whilst competing on the LIV setup.

Three weeks on from his move though, golf fans are still none the wiser as to what Rahm's team will look like, which could well prove a concern for the Spanish star with the opening event of the year fast-approaching.

If Rahm is to announce his new franchise in the build-up to the opener in Mexico, it will see the LIV roster go from 48 players to 52, with 13 teams now competing instead of 12. Whilst it does not seem too much of a drastic change on the surface, it could well pose some real logistical issues for the league's bosses.

Moving from 48 players to 52 will have an effect on the circuit's three-ball shotgun start format, as well as how prize money is distributed. An additional team could well have its benefits though, giving the breakaway league a chance to add four players to their roster.

On the back of Rahm's groundbreaking move last month, LIV CEO Greg Norman revealed he had a number of stars from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour wanting to follow in the Masters champion's footsteps. "I’ll be honest, since Jon signed, I know he’s been inundated by players saying, ‘I want to play on your team, Jon. How do I get on that?’" He told ESPN.

"And I have been inundated and my other team members, too. I can tell you, hand on my heart, between eight and 12 guys for about two or three spots and maybe two spots, to be honest with you.” For Rahm the chance to play in a team format was one of they key reasons behind his move.

Speaking after his signing announcement in December, he said: "The team aspect of things is absolutely key. Growing up being a football supporter, in Spain, teams are the important part. I was part of the Spanish national team for many years and more recently ASU.

"I’ve been part of a golf team for the largest part of the career. Having that opportunity brought a lot of those feelings back. I’m looking forward to building a team of four strong players. That’s a beautiful feeling that we don’t get to experience often in golf. It’s one of the main motivating factors for me. “
