Davina McCall is back in her judging seat for the new season of The Masked Singer - and viewers should brace themselves for her outrageous outfits.

The hit ITV guessing game is well known for dressing celebrities up in extravagant outfits in an effort to hide their identities as they sing song while the celebrity panel tries to guess who is behind the costume. But the 56-year-old TV host has drawn some scorn herself in the past from sensitive fans who have criticised her outfit choices.

Davina has clashed with trolls online in the past when they have hit out at her for her style decisions. But she has more recently signalled that this has encouraged her to take her personal style to new levels - as she hopes to be judged as a bad dresser.

Her response may have been sparked back in 2021 when Davina took an online critic to task when she proudly posed in a strappy white and black, sleeveless polkadot dress - that was complete with a dramatic slit that reached the top of her thighs. One vicious fan slammed the star after she wore the outfit on the ITV show, writing on social media at the time: "Old over sun-kissed woman should cover up... stunning dress but not for the wrinkly crinkly... demure for the mature".

But Davina didn’t take the insult lying down, and hit back at the troll, writing in reply: "Really sorry. Absolutely no chance of demure over here Sue… growing old disgracefully is far more fun" alongside several cry-laughing emojis.

Now Davina has hinted season five of The Masked Singer will see her sporting even more eye-catching outfits from behind the judges desk. She told The Sun this week: “I’m always trying to wear things where I could end up in the ‘what were you thinking?’ pages of a magazine.

"I never want to dress in a way people might expect me to. That’s come with midlife. I’m like, ‘No, I’m not going quietly. I refuse to conform to how you think I should look. I’m going to be the opposite’."

And her latest comments come a year after she spoke in a similar fashion, telling Women’s Health that she was going to embrace her style in her 50s and didn’t care what people said or thought. She told the magazine: “It’s a time of liberation. It’s a time of shedding the shackles of inhibition and of giving a damn…

“Because I haven’t always felt like that. It’s not just being on telly and it’s not just being a show-off. It’s that I don’t really care what people think, which is very liberating.”

Davina has drawn attention from fans in recent years for her jaw-dropping figure - which is decades younger than her mid-fifties years. The star frequently shows off her toned abs and slim figure in revealing outfits and swimwear.

And, surprisingly, she has claimed in the past that her impressive figure is not exclusively down to her exercise regime. She told Hello! Magazine in 2020: "Obviously I exercise and watch what I eat, but it's partially genetic... We all have different body types. My stomach hardly ever gets fat, but my bum and thighs turn to jelly if I don't work out for like, three days. Even after I had a baby, quite quickly I lost my tummy. But when I was pregnant, my redeeming feature disappeared overnight and I was left with an enormous bum and thighs."
