Mum's filthy oven is left 'glimmering' thanks to 5p Aldi cleaning hack
It’s the most wonderful time of the year and between feeding the small army that is your extended family and having guests you want to impress, the last thing you need everyone seeing and judging you for is your greasy and grimy oven door.
You don't need to worry though, because one woman has shared her hack on how to keep your oven glimmering. The 5p hack will definitely minimise the hours you spend scrubbing burnt-on food stains and built-up grime on your oven door.
All you need to make this hack work is a dishwasher tablet from Aldi, that's the miracle hack ingredient that will blast through all the food stains and grease. Oven cleaners can be great but they are pungent and can set you back a few pounds, this dishwasher hack will not.
Mum's 5p hack will minimise hours spent scrubbing burnt-on food and stains and built-up grime on your oven door (Daily Star)The hack was originally shared on the Mums Who Clean Facebook page, where a mum said she had only cleaned her oven twice in three years and both times she said she had been defeated by the task and given up. However, after discovering the method, she said she simply dampens a dishcloth with water and then scrubs with the tablet.
The mum said: "It did take about half an hour and some elbow grease, but it works! I just used the plain old Aldi tablets and I used I think four of them. There was a particularly stubborn spot in the bottom corner so I found breaking some up using sharper parts of the tablet worked to get it up."

In the battle of oven cleaning hacks, a TikTok user who goes by the username @healthylittlepeach recently revealed the homemade oven cleaning solution which has received rave reviews from cleaning fans. In the clip shared with her 354,000 followers, Mac said: "I'm not going to lie to you all. I'm the type of girl who cleans her oven once a year but when I clean it I've got to clean it."
The solution avoids chemicals and is just a combination of just half a cup of washing-up liquid, one and a half cups of baking soda and three-quarters of a cup of white vinegar. When combined, the ingredients make a white paste that easily tackles grime and grease.
Mac said: "I remove the oven rack and add it to a hot tub of water. I soak that with some washing up liquid, some laundry detergent and some baking soda, then let it sit." Whilst the racks sit you can apply the paste to the interior of the oven and leave for two hours for maximum effectiveness.
"Then I scrub the mess out of it, this is the hard part. You've got to scrub it. I have a little water bottle of spritz in case it gets crusty. I take a whole roll of paper towels and wipe it all down."
As a final step of the process for cleaning, Mac says she spritzs down the outside of the oven using an antibacterial cleaner and a microfibre cloth.
