Emmerdale's Belle Dingle's real life from famous boyfriend to family heartbreak
Emmerdale's Belle Dingle, played by Eden Taylor-Draper, is about to reach another big moment as she gets engaged. The character has been a part of the village since her first appearance on Christmas Day in 1988, originally portrayed by twins Emily and James Mather.
Eden took over the role in 2005 after James left in 2000 and Emily in 2005. She could soon be celebrating 20 years in the Dales. Belle has had quite a journey, with storylines including falling down a mineshaft, killing her best friend Gemma Andrews, having an affair with doctor Jermaine Bailey, faking a pregnancy to keep him from leaving after their affair was exposed, and being diagnosed with schizophrenia.
In her latest plot, Belle will get engaged after previously rejecting her boyfriend Tom King. In an all-Dingle episode last October, it was revealed that Belle was keeping a secret from her family when she disclosed that Tom had proposed - and that she'd turned him down.

But when Mandy rushed to congratulate her and see the ring, Belle admitted she had turned him down. However, she didn't tell her family that Tom didn't take the rejection well, thinking it meant she didn't love him.
Tom quickly became angry with Belle and tried to leave. Belle attempted to stop him but he forcefully pushed her away, shouting "Leave me alone" as Belle hit her head on the table, leaving her shaken and bleeding on the floor. Tom immediately apologised, promising he would never do it again and he didn't want to hurt her. She said it was 'fine' and that she'd forget it happened.

Now, after her first proposal attempt didn't work out, Belle proposes to Tom with the help of his favourite pair - ice skating legends Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean. And he says 'yes'!
Away from Emmerdale, 26-year-old Eden is happily in a relationship with boyfriend, Ed Lewis, since 2016. While she usually keeps her private life private, the soap star occasionally shares photos of herself and Ed with her many Instagram followers,
They were recently seen enjoying a festive trip to Austria together with some friends. During the summer, Eden posted some beautiful pictures as they spent 'a few days' in southern Italy.

The actress has quickly become a favourite among Emmerdale fans (Getty Images)Eden Taylor-Draper, who plays Belle Dingle on Emmerdale, has a super tight family just like her TV clan. Her mum and dad, Nicola and Richard, have four kids: Sebastian, Pollyanna, Francesca, and Posy. Six years back, they had a tough time when Francesca, called Chess by Eden, got really sick with cancer.
Eden even took time off from the show to support her sister. She told the Mirror, "We've got such a strong family. When our mum puts her mind to something she's always going to do it. She said, 'You are getting better and that's it. We're going to get through it'."
Francesca had to go for treatment every month and take chemo pills every day. Eden was there for her, staying in the hospital lots and making sure they had cosy tea and TV time together. She said, "Chessie had her bed and I had a little bed next to her. Mornings would be a snuggle, cup of tea and re-runs of Come Dine with Me. I tried to keep Chess as cosy as possible. We'd always say love you before bed, and that everything would be okay."
Now, Eden's doing great things as an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust and says the hard times made her family way closer. She added about her bond with Chess, "We're really close but it's definitely made our bond much stronger."
Eden shares a close bond with her on-screen family. She recently revealed that she is "really close to" Emma Atkins, who has portrayed Charity Dingle for over 20 years. When asked if the 48 year old is like a 'big sister', Eden responded: "There's no age gap! I feel like we're just the same age. We're sisters. We hang out all the time!"
In addition to acting, Eden and some of her co-stars, Isabel Hodgins, Daisy Campbell and Jessie Elland, have started their own book club - Rather Be Reading - back in May.
