BBC Breakfast shake-up as few presenters nowhere to be seen on Wednesday show
A few BBC Breakfast regulars were missing from Wednesday's programme as the show experienced a hosting shake-up.
Presenters Jon Kay, Carol Kirkwood and John Watson were nowhere to be seen on this morning's programme. Fellow star Mike Bushell was also missing from the show. As it's the festive period, the channel gave their presenters a break by bringing in different hosts.
On Wednesday, Sally Nugent took her regular seat on the sofa alongside Ben Thompson - who took over from Jon Kay. Sally and Jon revealed last week that they wouldn't be presenting together over the Christmas holidays.
She will also present on New Year's Day. Meanwhile, Christmas Day saw Jon and Carol band together to present the news and weather.

Sally had taken a week off from her presenting duties to take part in the dance competition, which was filmed in advance. Yet things didn't quite go to plan as Sally sustained a rib injury.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast on December 18, she revealed: "It's kind of like a Strictly boot camp but yeah it's fine, I've survived, a bit battered and bruised but I'm ok." Co-star Jon Kay added: "She really is a bit battered and bruised."
When asked by Jon if it had healed, Sally said: "Not quite. I'm being very brave, don't make me laugh. Don't anyone make me laugh. It hurts too much." The 52-year-old was one of the first three celebrity faces that were announced to be joining the 2023 special programme.
Her appearance on the show comes after she and her husband Gavin Hawthorne decided to separate in May after 13 years of marriage. Sally has partnered up with professional dancer Graziano Di Prima and posted snaps of the pair. The duo posed on the steps on the set as Sally captioned the photos: "I was in need of a little pick me up when the lovely people at Strictly called."
The BBC presenter added: "They kindly suggested I might like to learn to dance with @grazianodiprima in time for Christmas. I am definitely not a dancer - but I will try my best. And there is no one better to learn with. Join us on our Christmas adventure and I guarantee that we will all have fun along the way. Ciao."
