Bryson DeChambeau has revealed that he began learning to play gold left-handed - an ability he shares with Tiger Woods.

DeChambeau turned professional in 2016 and won eight events on the PGA Tour before leaving to join LIV Golf in 2022. The 30-year-old was among the biggest stars in golf to join the Saudi-funded breakaway league last year and has won two events since joining the tour.

In 2020, DeChambeau won his first major title at the US Open at Winged Foot Golf Club in New York. In an appearance on the Good Good podcast, DeChambeau revealed that when he started learning to play golf he began playing left-handed before switching to right-handed.

This is a skill that he shares with Woods, who also began playing golf left-handed when being taught by his father, Earl. DeChambeau has told the story of how he began playing golf left-handed and why his father, John, is the reason for the switch to become a right-handed golfer.

"I started grabbing a golf club when I was as young as I could start walking pretty much, and I started swinging left-handed much," said DeChambeau.

"Very similar to what Tiger Woods did with his dad. Tiger swung left-handed first, I don't know if anybody knew that. He swung left-handed mirroring his father, because he would look from face on and it would look like he was left-handed to him.

"It was the same thing that I did, I grew up swinging it left-handed initially for the first couple of days. And then my dad turned me around, and I started hitting right-handed, and I just became better with the right hand.”

DeChambeau won two of the final four events of the 2023 LIV Golf season to climb up to fourth in the overall standings. The former US Open champion's victories at Greenbrier and Chicago helped his team, Crushers GC, compete for the team championship.

While the individual title was won by Talor Gooch, the team championship was won by DeChambeau and Crushers GC. DeChambeau was captain of the team that featured Charles Howell III, Paul Casey, and Anirban Lahiri.

The 2024 season of LIV is due to get underway in February, when DeChambeau will be looking to win the individual title as well as the team championship. However, DeChambeau will have a new competitor in the league when the New Year rolls around.

Jon Rahm will be competing on LIV Golf in 2024 after signing a £450 million deal with the league. It remains to be seen which team Rahm will join, with the first event beginning in Mayakoba, Mexico on February 2.
