Partridge has won The Masked Singer Christmas Special for 2023 - with a very well-known celebrity hiding underneath the festive costume.

Show host Joel Dommett, 38, was back to supervise a special Christmas edition of the madcap ITV game show. While judges Davina McCall, 56, Jonathan Ross, 63, Rita Ora, 33, and 35-year-old Mo Gilligan were all on hand to try to guess who was hiding beneath each of the outfits. The panel was joined by chart-topping singer Leona Lewis, 38 - who also opened the show with a performance of her song, One More Sleep.

With the special episode airing on Christmas Day, viewers saw a quartet of mysterious celebrities take to the stage to sing while the judges and audience tried to figure out who was hiding behind the outfits. The special edition of the show saw one star hiding beneath a reindeer outfit, another dressed as a Brussels sprout, a further celeb hiding underneath some decorations, and a final contestant disguised as a Partridge (In A Pear Tree).

In the end, it was Partridge who was crowned the winner after wowing everyone with their vocals. Then, once the costume was removed, the audience gasped as it was revealed that Ainsley Harriott was the mystery celeb hiding underneath the outfit.

Reindeer was runner up - having missed out int he final sing off against Partridge. Raking off her mask, Carol Vorderman laughed and smiled as she was revealed. The 63-year-old star said: "I've loved every second. I thought the Welsh accent [could have given me away] and they said 'disguise your accent' and I can do a very good North Welsh accent."

Decorations lost a sing off against Reindeer and was sent off the stage - but not before having their mask removed. And beneath the extravagant bundle of tinsel and lights, was Julian Clary, 64 - who joked: "How could you get it so wrong?" after the panel guessed he was Gok Wan, Alan Carr or Jason Donovan.

And Sprout was the first to be eliminated after facing off against Patridge - with Black Adder actor Tony Robinson uncovered beneath the costume, having red a rap version of the classic carol Good King Wenceslas. Mo shouted: "You're a legend!" and Tony, 77, said: "Thank you! I've enjoyed myself enormously. I did find it very difficult. Foolishly, I wrote a rap I found difficult to say!"

Before the show aired, judge Rita Ora explained that she loves judging in the UK version of the show - having also featured on the panel in the USA. Asked if there is a difference in talent, she gushed: “Oh my gosh, it's completely different. Of course the talent for me, I'm biased, because this is my home, it's fantastic.

“This show in general, the format is just so insane. So, wherever you go in the world, it's kind of the same energy, to be honest, because the show is just that crazy and the costumes are just as crazy as well.”
