McDonald's Christmas Day and Boxing Day 2023 opening times explained

McDonald’s fans who prefer a Big Mac to Christmas turkey may be wondering if they can still visit their favourite fast food chain this weekend.

Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall on Monday and Tuesday this year and as always, these days are classed as bank holidays. It means many businesses will decide to shut on these days, so their workers can enjoy time with their families.

But what does this mean for McDonald’s restaurants - will they remain open as normal? Here is everything you need to know.

McDonald’s Christmas 2023 opening hours

McDonald’s has roughly 1,300 restaurants in the UK - and of these, approximately 1,100 restaurants are franchised, which means they are able to choose their own hours. This also means opening times vary across the country - including over Christmas - and there are no standard opening hours.

To be absolutely sure of the opening times of your local store, you should use the McDonald's restaurant locator online tool. Just pop in your postcode and it will bring up your closest branch.

But to give you a rough idea of opening times, The Mirror has checked several locations across the UK. For example, McDonald's in the Arndale Centre in Manchester is normally open every day from 8am until 10pm.

However, it will open slightly later at 9am and close at 7pm on Christmas Eve. This particular branch will then be closed altogether on Christmas Day, before reopening from 8am until 7pm on Boxing Day.

The McDonald's in Bristol Avon Meads retail park is normally open 24 hours on Sunday, but it will close at 9pm on Christmas Eve and will remain shut on Christmas Day. Its hours on Boxing Day are 11am until midnight.

Then the McDonald's in Clacket Lane service station on the M25 is normally open 24 hours, but will shut at 8pm on Christmas Eve. It will then remain closed on Christmas Day and will reopen from 8am on Boxing Day.

Last month, the fast food giant launched five newtasty menu itemsincluding the Galaxy Caramel Pie and The Big & Cheesy with Bacon, and they also brought along some firm fan favourite, such as the Chicken Big Mac and timeless Cheese Melt Dippers.
