Sainsbury’s Christmas and Boxing Day 2023 opening times for this weekend

The opening hours at Sainsbury's will be changing over the festive season - so make sure you check before you go.

The countdown to Christmas is well and truly on and while no doubt many people will have planned their food shop ahead of the big day, there's usually something that gets forgotten. So it's useful to know when your local supermarkets are open over the festive season.

Sainsbury's has not officially released its Christmas opening hours, this is likely because opening hours differ from store to store, as a result of size and location.

In research conducted by The Mirror, Sainsbury's stores will be open as normal until Christmas Eve on Sunday December 24. This means from Monday, December 18 until Saturday, December 23 bigger Sainsbury's stores will be open from 6am or 7am until 10pm or 11pm - this also includes its convenience stores.

On Christmas Eve, the larger stores will be opening at between 10am and 11am and closing between 4pm and 5pm. Sainsbury's Local stores will be open longer from 7am until 9pm. So if you need to pick up some very last minute bits on Christmas Eve you can head to a Sainsbury's Local.

However, if you are in Scotland stores will be open later on Christmas Eve and will be open until 7pm - Sainsbury's Locals will also be open until 9pm in Scotland.

All Sainsbury's stores across the UK will be closed on Christmas Day like the other major supermarket chains. The bigger Sainsbury's stores will be back open to the public on Boxing Day at 9am and will remain open until 6pm. Small stores will be also be opening at 9am although they will be open much later until 9pm on Boxing Day. Stores will return to their normal opening hours on December 27.

This will indicate the size of your local store and whether it is open or closed. You just have to type in your town or postcode and it will show your closest store's hours.
