Sir Jim Ratcliffe sanctions deal as Erik ten Hag drops January transfer hint

Manchester United's January transfer window is not expected to be a busy one, as the club continues to battle Financial Fair Play issues.

Erik ten Hag's struggling squad is in desperate need of a boost, with the Red Devils sitting down in seventh in the table. One boost could come if Sir Jim Ratcliffe finally completes his deal for a 25 percent stake in the club and launches a sporting overhaul as expected.

Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek's loan move to Eintracht Frankfurt is on the verge of completion and boss Ten Hag has opened up on his plans for the January window. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Manchester United transfer news.

Ratcliffe read to sanction move

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is prepared to sanction Jean-Clair Todibo's move from Nice to Tottenham, despite interest from United in the defender. Ratcliffe, who owns Nice through his company INEOS, is set to buy a 25 percent stake in the Red Devils.

United have been eyeing up a move for Todibo, with boss Erik ten Hag keen to boost his options at centre-back. The Dutchman could be dealt a blow to his plans by his incoming boss though.

According to the Evening Standard, Ratcliffe will not stand in the way of Todibo joining Spurs. Tottenham are set to make a move for the 23-year-old next month, which looks set to be completed.

Van de Beek exit close to completion

United outcast Donny van de Beek is closing in on a move to Eintracht Frankfurt. The midfielder has no place in Ten Hag's plans at Old Trafford, making just two appearances in all competitions.

With that in mind, he has been given permission to join Frankfurt and underwent a medical with the Bundesliga side earlier this week. A completion of the deal appears to be close, with Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krösche now revealing his confidence.

He said: “I am very confident that Donny will be with us for the next six months. We still need quality, also across the board. We need experience, we are a very young team. Donny can certainly help us with that.”

Ten Hag drops January hint

Manchester United boss Ten Hag has hinted he will not be busy in the January window. Instead, the Dutchman will wait for his injured troops to return, insisting he is happy with the make-up of his squad.

"We have to make next steps and demand more from each other to make that step forward. The current squad, I am happy. As we get our players back, we have a good squad," he said.

"I think a lot of our… the way it went, the reasons behind… many players not available. When players are back - Casemiro will be back, Martinez will be back, Mason Mount will be back - we will be much stronger after the window."
