Meghan Markle proved to be too much for the Royal Family to handle, as they're now at a loss without her in The Firm, says one royal analyst.

The former Suits actress entered the Firm officially in 2018, when she married Prince Harry in a star-studded wedding ceremony. She had a "very independent life" before tying the knot with Harry, having worked as a Hollywood actress and starring in Horrible Bosses, Remember Me and legal drama Suits, as recurring character Rachel Zane.

Royal analyst Jane Marguerite Tippett believes the Royal Family struggled to understand Meghan's independence and couldn't "deal" with her. She said: "The institution didn't understand how to deal with a woman, not so much who was divorced, but who had a very independent life, who had had an education, who had lived the first 35 years of her life as someone who called her own shots, called her own story, and they probably didn't come to grips with that in perhaps the most pragmatic way."

Tippett added that the family is at a loss following Meghan's abrupt exit in 2020. She said it's a loss for the monarchy to not have Meghan and Harry because they "worked on interesting charities and interesting projects."

She explained how the most successful royals have been "the ones who have been able to gradually adjust rather than demand immediate change." Meghan and Harry left the Royal Family in 2020, settling in Montecito, California, to lead a life of privacy after stepping back from their royal duties.

Since then, the Sussexes have worked at becoming financially independent. The couple had an exclusive partnership with Spotify which saw Meghan host the Archetypes podcast.

Their partnership sadly came to an end back in June after Meghan and Harry reached a mutual agreement with the streaming giant. The Sussexes continue to work with Netflix and have created their own shows. There's also talk of the couple producing a film for the streaming service.
