A wife has admitted to causing extreme friction in her marriage after she failed to attend her mother-in-law's funeral because she was looking for a "very expensive" bracelet that had gone missing. Explaining the situation, the woman revealed her late mother-in-law had passed away quickly only two months after a cancer diagnosis, and things were understandably very tense and sad at home.

Expanding on the situation, the woman shared that on the morning of the funeral, she had gone for a run to clear her head and get ready for the sad occasion. Stating the funeral was at 2 pm, she planned to be home by 1 pm so they could leave at 1.30 pm.

However, like all best-laid plans, things were in play to scupper things. Explaining that near her house was a huge plot of land filled with rocks, she added that this was where she liked to go running. And while out for the jog, the clasp on the "very expensive" bracelet, costing in the region of £24,000 ($30k), came loose and fell off.

Realising it was missing she immediately panicked and started searching for it. She wrote: "I never wear glasses on my run because I can still see car lights and my face sweats up a lot and I can't keep pushing my glasses up. I also don't bring my phone because I couldn't read my texts anyways and my leggings don't have pockets."

She went on: “You can probably imagine someone searching for a tiny bracelet, with terrible eyesight in a probably 200-foot radius. I searched for hours, I totally lost track of time. It got to the point where I walked around the entire plot of land for this thing. Every corner. Every rock. Everything."

After locating the sentimental item, she went back home around 4.15 pm and waited for her husband to return: “He was screaming at me and I explained to him what happened,” she said. “He started getting more mad once he found out I missed his mother’s funeral for a bracelet. We haven’t spoken since.”

After heading to Reddit to ask the online community what they thought about the incident, many readers were flabbergasted at her story.

“Who the hell runs with a £30k bracelet on and says: ‘I want to look good”? All well and good going to an event or the office, but running?” said one reader. Another said: “I don’t know a single person with “pretty bad eyesight” that would leave their glasses behind. She sounds like an idiot from the start”.

One questioned the woman’s poor decisions from start to finish: “Who goes running with a 30k diamond bracelet? Who goes on a "short run" right before a funeral? And "plans to be back?” Who searches until it's getting dark and doesn't even remember "hey, my partner is putting his MOTHER to rest today?” Every step of this decision-making is baffling to me.”
