Arsenal not ruling out exit as Ivan Toney drops hint over transfer

Arsenal currently sit at the top of the Premier League table ahead of this weekend's mouth-watering game against second-place Liverpool at Anfield.

The Gunners are one point and one place above Jurgen Klopp's side and Mikel Arteta's side will be keen to extend that gap to four points with victory on Merseyside. They will also got eight clear of Manchester City if they win, as Pep Guardiola's men aren't in action until December 27 due to the Club World Cup.

It has been an impressive start to the season for Arsenal and they might want to dip into the transfer market in January in a bid to maintain their strong position. The Gunners have also booked their place in the last of the Champions League, where they will face Porto. With this in mind, here are the latest headlines from the Emirates...

Arsenal not ruling out Nketiah exit

Eddie Nketiah could leave Arsenal in the January transfer window should a potential suitor meet his asking price, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 24-year-old signed a new five-year contract in the summer of 2022 and scored nine goals in 39 appearances last season. Despite his hat-trick against Sheffield United in October, Nketiah has struggled for form so far this term and is often second fiddle to Gabriel Jesus up front.

This could see Nketiah leave and the Gunners have not ruled out a sale for the sale in January, with several clubs interested in signing the forward from England and Germany.

Toney hint

Ivan Toney has increased speculation about his future by liking a social media comment about joining Arsenal in January.

Toney, 27, is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching the Football Association's betting rules. That suspension ends next month, with Arsenal interested in signing the England international to boost their chances of winning the Premier League title.

Brentford are expected to demand up to £100million for Toney, who will enter the final 18 months of his contract in January. The striker has now added fuel to those transfer rumours by liking a comment by actor Michael Ward on his Instagram account.

After Toney posted a bunch of pictures of himself, Ward commented: "Arsenal do the right thing?" The player responded by liking the comment, leaving Gunners fans excited.

Yorke on Rice

Ex-Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has claimed that Arsenal's Declan Rice has to win a couple of trophies to convince him he is worth £105million.

He told MegaDice.com: "Declan Rice needs to win a couple of trophies before I change my tune. I know he scored important goals against Luton and Man United, but that's what you'd expect when you spend such a large fee.

"Scoring a few important goals doesn't mean much if you finish second at the end of the season. That's not what I want my £100million man to be doing - I want him to win major trophies.

"People think that's unfair, but the fee is a hell of a lot to spend to finish second. People may think there's more to it, but you have to bring success to the club if you've joined for that amount of money. There's no point otherwise.

"Rice can score important goals, but it means nothing if Arsenal don't win trophies. I expect Rice to be like a modern Roy Keane and drag his team to silverware. If he does that, then I'll have no issues with his fee.

"I think Rice is a damn good player, but I don't see £105million in him. I suppose that's just the market, though. If Rice delivers success, then I'll be the first one to congratulate him.'"
