A BBC presenter has suffered an unfortunate slip of the tongue live on air, which has left viewers at home giggling.

A presenter explaining the recent result at a Liverpool game made the accidental blunder over 'fist bumping' as he stumbled on his words during a sports news segment. During a clip of Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp celebrating the team winning the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup, the BBC presenter attempted to describe Jürgen's joy and celebratory antics.

However, instead of describing the simple hand gesture, instead the BBC journalist told viewers: "We saw him fisting… bumping his fists in the air there."

Recognising his mistake, the broadcaster did let out a chuckle before moving on to finish his sports news broadcast. Yet viewers at home didn't let him live it down as they found the blunder hilarious.

After the clip aired, BBC viewers took to social media to laugh about the slip of the tongue. One viewer wrote on twitter/X: "A miracle he didn’t dissolve into fits of laughter after that." Another shared: "Jürgen Klopp did what?!?"

The blunder follows after earlier this month a BBC News presenter was caught on camera giving the studio team her middle finger before noticing the camera had started rolling. BBC presenter Maryam Moshiri later apologised for the gaffe, explaining she had jokingly counted down and ended with her pulling her middle finger for the number one as she fooled around with the crew. She made it clear that she had not expected the moment to air.

She wrote on Twitter : "Hey everyone, yesterday just before the top of the hour I was joking around a bit with the team in the gallery. I was pretending to count down as the director was counting me down from 10-0.. including the fingers to show the number. So from 10 fingers held up to one. When we got to 1 I turned finger around as a joke and did not realise that this would be caught on camera.

"It was a private joke with the team and I’m so sorry it went out on air! It was not my intention for this to happen and I’m sorry if I offended or upset anyone. I wasn’t ‘ flipping the bird’ at viewers or even a person really. It was a silly joke that was meant for a small number of my mates."
