Brianna Ghey was brutally stabbed to death in a park by two teenagers and here is the timeline leading up to her murder.
Two 16-year-olds, named only as girl X and boy Y have been found guilty of murdering teenager Brianna Ghey in a “frenzied and ferocious” knife attack..They killed 16-year-old Brianna in Culcheth Linear Park, near Warrington, Cheshire, on February 11.
Both had denied murder and each blamed the other for the killing of the transgender teenager, described as "horrific" by detectives. After arresting girl X and boy Y, police found the handwritten note in girl X's bedroom and hundreds of messages between the pair, including the plans to kill Brianna and others.
Following the verdict at Manchester Crown Court, Det Chief Supt Mike Evans, said how the murder plan had been written almost "word for word". He stated: "If you can imagine if you download an iPhone, you get about 11,000 pages. So, trying to go through that it wasn't a case of all sudden, 'Bang. Here's these five text messages'. It was a slow (process), almost a slow reveal. I do accept now, looking at it, you sort of go, 'Wow'. There's not many murders where you get from planning to execution almost documented, word for word."
Timeline leading up to Brianna’s death
November 2022 - The two teenagers discussed killing a child referred to in court as Boy M.
Girl, 16, stabbed to death in park - and police want to speak to man and woman
December 5 - Girl X sends Boy Y a video which was apparently an advert for an underground site for people who like rape, snuff, torture and murder.
December 15 – Girl X messages Boy Y, telling him she is “obsessed over someone” called Brianna but did not have feelings for them.
January 1, 2003 - Boy Y sends Birl X a photograph of a hunting knife and tells her: “Spent my money. I bought a knife.”
January 23 - Girl X messages Boy Y, telling him she gave Brianna so many ibuprofen gel tablets it “should have been enough to kill her”.
Brianna was killed in a Warrington park (Liverpool Echo)January 26 - The two teenagers compile a list of at least four people, as well as Brianna, they wanted to kill.
February 3 - Girl X sends Boy Y a picture of a handwritten note of their plan of how to kill Brianna, titled “Saturday 11th February 2023. Victim: Brianna Ghey ”.
February 11 1.41pm - Brianna sends her mother a message saying: “I’m on the bus by myself, I’m scared.”
1.53pm - Brianna meets Girl X and Boy Y at a bus stop in Culcheth.
2.30pm - Brianna messages a friend, describing Girl X as “weird”.
3.06pm - Brianna sends a message to Girl X saying “Girl where are you”.

February 12 - Girl X and Boy Y are arrested at their homes.
February 15 - Police find Brianna’s phone in a drain, stained with her blood in an area girl X and boy Y were seen walking shortly after the murder.
A jury of seven men and five women convicted the two following a four-week trial. Boy Y has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and is non-verbal and girl X has traits of autism and ADHD. Trial Judge Mrs Justice Yip is now to discuss with counsel when the defendants, both facing mandatory jail terms for life, will be sentenced.

The planning, the violence and the age of the killers is beyond belief. Brianna Ghey was subjected to a frenzied and ferocious attack and was stabbed 28 times in broad daylight in a public park. Girl X and Boy Y appear to have been a deadly influence on each other and turned what may have started out as dark fantasies about murder into a reality."
Today, the judge told the court a sentencing hearing will take place in the new year. Mrs Justice Yip told the two defendants: "I will have to impose a life sentence. What I have to decide is the minimum amount of time you will be required to serve before you might be considered for release. I'm not going to do that this week. I'm going to ask for some reports in relation to each of you."
