Manchester United have reportedly held talks over terminating the contract of Jadon Sancho amid his ongoing feud with Erik ten Hag.
The former Borussia Dortmund winger, 24, joined the club in a £73million deal in the summer of 2021 but has failed to live up to expectations and is currently banished from the first-team squad after a bitter public fallout with his manager.
It is anticipated that United will field inquiries for Sancho in the January transfer window in a bid to move the player on. However, it has now been claimed that the club are apparently considering taking the far more drastic approach of ripping up his lucrative multi-year contract altogether.
That's according to Sky Sports, who outline that Manchester United are planning to be 'more ruthless' in their approach to contracts once Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in power at Old Trafford. The Ineos chief, who is set to acquire a minority stake in the club, will 'prioritise the right culture and recruitment strategy over business interests' going forward.
It is noted that there is admiration within Ineos at the success Arsenal have enjoyed after adopting a similar practice under Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard has transformed the club back into title contenders after parting ways with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe.

While the report goes on to detail that discussions have already taken place to that effect in regards to Sancho, it seems highly unlikely that United would take such drastic action given he is likely to attract offers in January.

Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are the latest team to be credited with an interest in the England star, per Bild, who also claim that Barcelona and Juventus are monitoring Sancho's situation.
It has previously been indicated that Ten Hag would welcome Sancho back into the team if the forward apologised privately. However, it now seems highly unlikely that the situation can be salvaged and both United and Sancho are open to a transfer.
