With 2024 fast approaching, a lot of people will be setting some New Year's resolutions and it seems they could learn a thing or two from Meghan Markle.

The Duchess of Sussex lives a very glamorous lifestyle in California, but she showed she's just the same as everyone else as she revealed what four resolutions make it to her list every year. Meghan admitted she fails to stick to them every time.

"Run a marathon. Stop biting my nails. Stop swearing. Re-learn French. These make my New Year's resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year," Meghan revealed.

Writing in her now-defunct blog The Tig in 2016, Meghan admitted that she still hasn't done a marathon and the swearing "comes in lulls triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple drinks".

She also said French "hasn't stuck" and admitted she bites her nails during "a turbulent flight or a stressful day". Meghan then had a very powerful message to share with fans as she said she simply aimed to approach life "playfully".

The former Suits actress said she wanted to "laugh and enjoy, to keep my standards high but my level of self-acceptance higher." She also shared some advice from her friend Gina Torres.

Meghan wrote: "My cast mate and friend, Gina, listened to me rattle on about my plans for the hiatus, bullet pointing the multitudinous events of my schedule and planned jaunts from one place to the next. She stopped me. 'Meg, I will just say one thing. Make sure you leave room for magic'."

Meghan told her fans it's okay if plans fall through and encouraged them to set goals but "be open to change". She finished by saying: "So grateful to be with you on the ride."

It's not just the New Year Meghan uses to make resolutions. Each year on her birthday, the Duchess of Sussex makes new resolutions for herself and what she hopes to see in the year ahead. This special tradition was started by her mother Doria Ragland, who likened birthdays to New Year.

Writing on The Tig, Meghan said: "My mom has always said that birthdays are your own personal New Year. Your own chance to make resolutions just for yourself and what you prognosticate for your year ahead."
