Brian Cox has revealed he turned down an offer to appear on Strictly Come Dancing.
He shared on BBC One's Sunday With Laura Kuenssberg: "I don't know if I want to go down that road." The Emmy award-winning actor, 77, admitted: "I've actually been asked to be on it." When asked if he accepted, he replied: "No, I declined. Well... I mean, I like dancing, don't get me wrong... I don't know why but I just, I always see that there's a sort of joke element in it."
He added: "You know, there's almost a character that's going to be getting the elbow... and I just thought, 'I don't know if I want to go down that road'." When questioned if he could be persuaded, he responded: "I'm getting too old for it anyway."

The competition was discussed by journalist Laura Kuenssberg, Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid, former cabinet minister Robert Buckland, and guest panellist Brian Cox.
Reid, who was on the show in 2013 and got to the final, talked about this year's Strictly Come Dancing winners: "Huge congratulations to the winners." She also said: "It's the most magical, sparkling, fantastic experience to be involved in."

And she mentioned how different life is after the show: "It is not real life. So I have to say, any of those contestants who wake up this morning, they will come back down to earth with a bump because it's like a completely different planet where you breathe air which is sequin encrusted."
Meanwhile, winners Ellie and Vito recently refused to deny any rumours that they are romantically involved with one another. In recent weeks, the pair had set tongues wagging and sparked romance rumours. When asked by This Morning's Josie Gibson if there was any truth, Ellie responded: "Honestly, we've just been having the most amazing time dancing and we've built a really strong bond and a friendship that will last forever."
Vito then added: "We have a beautiful bond, good bond, you see a person, you connect with a person straight away. I am a very first-impression person and when we met, straight away, we had that feeling we knew each other since we were young. First time, I am so so lucky to have you in my life."
