Updating your phone can be a tricky feat thanks to the endless options available but a look at proves why it may just come out on top when batted against other Android models.

Even when compared to its fellow S23 models in the range; the standard Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23 Ultra there’s a handful of reasons why the standard model is still proving to be a popular handset nine months after its flagship unveiling.

If you have one of Samsung’s S23 models on your list to buy but can’t quite decide which one is best for you then our latest buying guide may help you make the right decision for you. Whether it’s to upgrade your work phone or simply get a shinier new handset for social media snapping or listening to podcasts - here’s everything you need to know.

Starting with price, which can be the top distinguishing factor for eager shoppers and the first noticeable difference between the standard Galaxy S23 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra. At £849 the Galaxy S23 is a lot cheaper than the standout £1, 249 Galaxy S23 Ultra - but there are added features which come into the £400 price difference.

Let’s compare the screens

It’s not called the Ultra for no reason, as the Galaxy S23 Ultra has the biggest display out of Samsung’s newest S Series of smartphones, with a huge 6.8-inch display. Much bigger when you compare it to the standard S23’s 6.1-inch screen size.

But despite the differences in size between the two models, which plays a huge influence when it comes to the pricing, both the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Ultra are fitted with the exact same refresh rate - of 120hz. The number reflects the amount of times the display fully refreshes each second, it won’t make a difference to the naked eye but will make your favourite series, TikTok videos and films appear much sharper and clearer.

A look at S23 and S23 Ultra cameras

Flipping over the S23 phone, Samsung has increased the megapixels of the selfie camera to 12-megapixels, an upgrade from the S22 10-megapixel camera. In contrast, the S23 Ultra is going to be the one for avid selfie or video fans with its huge 200-megapixel upgrade - this gives the model the edge when it comes to low-light shots as it brings more focus and detail to users’ images. Onto the back camera design and both the S23 and S23 Ultra have the same upgraded sleek look thanks to the cut of the S22 back camera notches.

Both models offer something different for phone shoppers and nearly a year since its 2023 launch the S23 range is proving to be highly sought after. Whether it’s professional budding photographers looking to capture quality shots on the go (we’d recommend the S23 Ultra for this) or day-to-day mobile users looking for Super Fast Charging, or detail enhancing technology, that’s where the smaller Galaxy S23 comes in.
